Admin business
Karanbir,
PLEASE!
You've never responded to my question about whitelisting. That asinine
nixspam did it to me again, and this time... seriously, I urge you,
personally, to go there and try to remove a site. They've "enhanced
their security", that is, mangling the capchas, to the point that it
took me about five minutes or more, and about a dozen or 15 challenges,
before...

The rate of brute force attack success is exceeding that of human
ability (and interest) to remember ever longer more complex passwords.
I just fired my ISP because of the asininity of setting a 180
compulsory expiration on passwords.
Now I use Google. They offer MFA opt in. And now I'm more secure than
I was with the myopic ISP.
Apple and Microsoft (and likely others) have been working to deprecate
login passwords for years - obviously they're not ready to flip t...

Offline is an entirely separate matter, and is already addressed by /etc/shadow salting and hashing in CentOS. We know how to make it even stronger if the threat requires it: move to OTP keys, use a better KDF than SHA512, etc.

Good for you. Password expiration is silly. A good strong password should last years under any reasonable threat.
But we?ve not been talking about password expiration here.

Best ATA for general residential deployment??
I read the thread about what IP phone is best for business deployment
with great interest. Our need is slightly different however. We are
deploying VoiP as a value-add with our high speed internet service and
are having trouble finding the right SIP analog terminal adapter. In
order to support people's existing phones and wiring we need to use an ATA.

Dynamic Database Connections
Hey everyone! I have a problem that''s been making me a little nuts.
I would like to use RoR for a upcoming project, but if I can''t get
past this hiccup I''m
afraid I''ll have to use PHP or Java. Ugh.
The application needs to have a database-per-customer model. So when
I do a Product.find(:all) I need to make sure i''m connecting to say

It's not just an imperfect analogy it really doesn't work on closer scrutiny.
Malware itself is not a good analog to antigens. Vaccinations provide

ANOVA with means and SDs as input
Dear R-community,
I'm struggling with a paper that reports only fragmented results of a
2by2by3 experimental design. However, Means and SDs for all cells are given.
Does anyone know a package/function that helps computing an ANOVA with only
Means and SDs as input (resulting in some sort of effect size and
significance test)?
The reason why I'm interested is simple: I'm conducting a

So you all think VoIP sypply is warm and fuzzy
Here is a letter I sent them for my $150 paper weight.
Dear Voipsupply, As a small service provider, using you company for the
first time, I'm very disappointed that you have removed the
configuration CD that should have been shipped with the Mediatrix 2102
just to get a few more bucks. I have contacted mediatrix and they have
informed me that the CD's is shipped in every 2102. If I

Hello. I installed under Ubuntu (Dapper) Park Place. I followed the
