bge problems in RELENG_9, bge0: watchdog timeout -- resetting
Hi, I'm having lots of difficulties with BCM5719, which is the default network card of HP Proliant DL 360 G8 servers. I can get a few ping replies before I get a couple of these: bge0: watchdog timeout -- resetting bge0: watchdog timeout -- resetting Then everything hangs. Can not log in using ssh.

bge drivers does not work for 3COM 3C996-SX / 3C996B-T
I'm experiencing similar problems with a 3C996-T under 4.8-REL. In particular, connecting a 4.8-REL machine to a 5.1-REL machine leads to some interesting situations: I can do simple pings across the link, but ssh fails, and heavy pings crash the 4.8 machine. Similarly changing the interface configuration with ifconfig tends to crash the 4.8 machine (mtu, link0, up/down, etc). The

Symlink outside the share path
Hello everyone -- I am stumped on this issue, mostly because I'm not quite sure if it's behaving correctly or not. I believe this used to work and right now I'm not quite sure why it's no longer doing so and how to fix it (if possible). I suspect it is because of my recent update of the OS and Samba version. When users are trying to follow a symlink that goes to a different

Ogg Vorbis Framing
Hi all, Here are some thoughts on Vorbis framing, which may make it easier to stream Vorbis in real time. The suggested changes also move more audio data closer to the beginning of each page. A note in the Vorbis framing spec suggests a simple 'bandwidth limited' mode whereby important information is placed at the front of each page and the end of each page is discarded. When operating

SOLVED Symlink outside the share path
Okay, this problem is solved. It turns out when I was doing the wide links and unix extensions option it really was working. It wasn't until I logged out and logged back in to the client to get a fresh smb connection that it worked. So I'm good. Thanks for the help everyone. I appreciate it. 64 bit hardware and filesystem size limit
We recently bought a 32-bit Xeon system with a 12-port 3Ware RAID card and a dozen 500GB drives. We wanted to create 4TB drive arrays; however, we soon discovered that there is about a 2.2TB drive array size limit on 32-bit hardware. Does that sound correct? Would replacing the 32-bit mobo/cpu with a 64-bit mobo/cpu allow us to use drive arrays larger than 2.2TB? Thanks.

stable/9 panic Bad tailq NEXT(0xffffffff80e52660->tqh_last) != NULL
Well this is new. I haven't a clue what Dell has done on this R620, but this popped up today after I did a boat load of BIOS updates and tried to install stable/9 from our yahoo tree. If anyone sees the obvious solution here, I'd love to figure it out. found-> vendor=0x14e4, dev=0x165f, revid=0x00 domain=0, bus=2, slot=0, func=1 class=02-00-00, hdrtype=0x00, mfdev=1

Samba daemons hang trying to lock locking.tdb
Hi, A day or so after starting samba, some daemons (diferent forks) begin to hang. Then, the WinXP clients hang too completely. When I try to figure out what is happen, I see that smbd daemons hangs always in a fcntl64() call: # strace -p 6414 Process 6414 attached - interrupt to quit fcntl64(14, F_SETLKW64, {type=F_WRLCK, whence=SEEK_SET, start=3684, len=1} <unfinished ...> Process 6414

Hardware RAID Controller
Hi Everyone, Has anyone had any experience of using the Promise FastTrak SX4000 or SuperTrak SX6000 IDE RAID Controllers under Centos (if it matters I'm using version 4). I've seen it listed on linuxcompatible.org as working but would prefer to find out any first-hand experince before I buy. I'm looking to build a new mini server based on Mini-ITX and have found a great 1U case

ITSP's no longer supporting IAX?
After a variety of connectivity problems, my itsp (Unlimitel.ca) blamed the problem on the IAX protocol. They told me that as of Asterisk 1.4 the IAX protocol went downhill and many carriers (like VoicePulse) are discontinuing support for IAX. Is this correct? We are all heading for SIP?
