Is there any problem that can arise from remapping gidNumber?
This morning I remapped gidNumber from primaryGroupID to gidNumber. I did that because I could not change the integer in primaryGroupID wit ldbedt as root. I mapped to to a new attribute called gidNumber which has no specific meaning in samba. Is there any potential problems that can arise from doing that. Is there a better way to fix that problem?

Better error message in loadNamespace
Hi I?ve just spend a bit of time debugging an error arising in `loadNamespace`. The bottom line is that the `vI` object is assigned within an `if` block but expected to exist for all of the remaining code. In some cases where the package library has been corrupted or when it resides on a network drive with bad connection this can lead to error messages complaining about `vI` object not existing.

3.5 issue
All, This morning, I upgraded samba to version 3.5 on CentOS 4.6 and 5.4 boxes. When trying to run any "net" command, I get the following message: net: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libreadline.so.x: undefined symbol: PC Additionally, while I can see my shares, I can't see any of the data in them. What does the error indicate, and how can I fix it. Thanks. Dimitri --

[3.7 Release] RC4 has been tagged
Dear testers, 3.7.0-rc4 has just been tagged. It is identical to rc3, plus: - r245902: Revert r245355: change of clang-tools-extra symlink in the release script - r245947: Merge of r245927: Fix LLDB build on MIPS - r245948: Deprecate the DataLayout on the TargetMachine, and backport the 3.8 API - Changes to the ReleaseNotes. Install Applications via Logon Scripts?
Is there a way to install a windows (XP) application via a logon script? I'm not sure how to do it because most applications will require interaction (next, next, next and etc). Has anyone figured out a way to 'push out' programs via logon script or something else relating to a Samba domain? X11 connection rejected because of wrong authentication
...alert. I assume this is because I am accessing the server from my laptop? In any case, I googled for the message, and this threw up dozens of similar queries over many years. Most of the ones I read offered methods of avoiding the problem rather than solving it. Am I right in thinking the message arises from my remote connection? And if so, is there a simple solution? -- Timothy Murphy e-mail: gayleard /at/ eircom.net School of Mathematics, Trinity College, Dublin 2, Ireland
