Exclude
Hi Folks,
I'm running rsync between an NT client and a Solaris 7 Server (Ver 2.4.6).
I'd like to be able to exclude the following directory:
/opt/IBMHTTPDLOG/archivelogs
but retrieve
/opt/IBMHTTPDLOG
My setup is:
rsync -av -p -e rsync@server1.cna.com:/opt/IBMHTTPDLOG/
F:/opt/IBMHTTDLOG
(client)
rsync --daemon --exclude-from=/etc/rsync.exclude
(server)
What I get is *everything* including the contents of the dir ./archivelogs.
What is the proper syntax ?...

re: different availability requirements for multiple ocfs2 volumes?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Folks,
quick question.
In our current 3 node RAC cluster we have 2 ocfs2 volumes setup.
We have a volume for sharing oracle CRS files (ocr.crs and vote.crs) and a 2nd volume is going to be
used to store backups and archivelogs. We will copy backups and archivelogs via RMAN from the flash recovery
area, onto this volume .. and eventually gets copied to another machine or offsite storage.
My concern is this ...
The ocfs2 volume for the crs files needs to be highly available etc, and in the event that there are problem...

Fwd: RE: OCFS Hang
Oh yeah - easy way to check, Randy:
Next time your node hangs, get on the OTHER NODE and go into each
directory where files are being opened (datafiles, archivelogs,
controlefiles, redo logs, etc) and delete a file (you can create one
first then delete it). If this causes the hung node to recover then
you're having the same problem I was having.

ocfs and DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST
what do you guys think about the best way to use DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST
with ocfs? specifically, I'm wondering about archive logs... one thing
i really like about using a flash recovery area it's space management
features (after i copy my archivelogs to tape, it still keeps a copy
around until it needs to reclaim the space)
with ocfs v1 i've always wanted to give each node it's own ocfs volume
for archiving - to avoid metadata (ocfs directory) contention during
file creation. does this mean that if i want to have the advantage of
DB_R...

rsync for migrating oracle datafiles
Hi - a question for all ye rsync guru's out there...
I have a need to migrate some fairly large Oracle datafiles from a UFS filesystem to VxFS (VERITAS), however I am not being allowed nearly enough outage time to perform a standard file copy migration. The datafiles (of which there are about 4 are about 50GB each in size and on separate UFS filesystems.
I am considering instigating a local

[ocfs2-announce] OCFS2 1.4.10-1 released
...MPATIBILITY
This release is fully compatible with earlier releases of OCFS2 1.4.
Users can upgrade their nodes to the new version in a rolling manner.
RECOMMENDATION
This is just to remind users to add the "noatime" mount option to the
mounts that hold the Oracle datafiles, redologs, archivelogs, voting
file, etc. This is for OCFS2 1.4 only.
WHAT'S CHANGED
This release includes bug fixes, applicable backports from mainline and
a new feature discontiguous block group. The new feature allows block
groups to allocate discontiguous groups when contiguous region is not
available.

FW: [Ocfs2-announce] OCFS2 1.4.7-1 and OCFS2 Tools 1.4.4-1 released
...compatible with OCFS2 1.2.x. Users can install
the software and mount the older volumes as-is. However, a rolling upgrade
from 1.2 to 1.4 will not work.
RECOMMENDATION
This is just to remind users to add the "noatime" mount option to the
mounts that hold the Oracle datafiles, redologs, archivelogs, voting file,
etc. This is for OCFS2 1.4 only.
WHAT'S CHANGED
This release includes mostly bug fixes.
The one new feature we've added is not much of one. It allows users
to change the fence method from the default of machine reset to panic.
This was requested by some developers who are i...

proc-37, installing 10gR2 CRS. /ocfs/ocr_disk1 is on FS type 1952539503. Not supported.
Hello,
I am facing a problem during root.sh of 10g Release 2, on RH 4.0 update
1 + ocfs2.
During the root.sh it reports the following error:
PROT-1: Failed to initialize ocrconfig
Failed to upgrade Oracle Cluster Registry configuration
Looking to the created ocrconfig logfile we can see the following:
Oracle Database 10g CRS Release 10.2.0.1.0 Production Copyright 1996,

"no space left on device" related to directory limit
Hello,
We have a 3-node cluster setup with ocfs2.
Since friday one of the nodes went down and would not become clustermember after a reboot because it was unable to write to the ocfs2 filesystem. Message: no space left on device.
There is plenty of diskspace though.
No problem whatsoever to create a file / directory on the filesystem using one of the other nodes.
Today one of the remaining
