rails IDE
**hi I am just curious what IDE everybody uses to develop rails application.
I am using eclipse with RDT and RAD plugin. But for some reason kicking
debug session takes a lot of time. Do anyone experience this kind of
problem?

Problems passing un-sanitized XML to client
I''m trying to store an xsl stylesheet in the database and return it
to the client, but at some point in the process all the angle
brackets, etc are parsed out of the xml, so I get <defaults>
instead of <defaults>. Anyone have any pointers how I would go about
turning off that behavior?

need an Ruby on Rails IDE
Hello everybody,
I''m a new member on Ruby on Rails.
I''m friendly on using Microsoft Visual Studio (VS) IDE.
The VS IDE supports for Intellisense coding (that mean it will
automatically display a list of member variables or functions for a
class, struct, union, or namespace; the names and types of parameters
required by a function or attribute; and the complete declaration for

Rails debugging - a (slightly) better approach?
Hi all,
First up hello everybody, I''m new to this forum.
I am also new to Ruby and Rails. One thing that struck me as very
inconvenient for someone just learning the Rails ropes is that (apart
from Arachno and Komodo, which at the moment I cannot afford - and don''t
particularly like) there is no reasonable debugging support for Rails.
I know about breakpointer which - while useful - does not help me
understand how things hang together. I had a look at the source code of
the core ruby debugg...

Fast Ruby Debugger?
After developing in Java for years in IDEs I''m starving for a decent ruby
debugger. When learning new codebasesI find it invaluable to use the
debugger to step through the system and see how things work at runtime.
Using RDT in Eclipse is fine but it''s excruciating to wait minutes for the
default debugger to finally reach my breakpoints on tests that normally take
seconds to

Rad Rails?
Hi,
I''ve just now started learning Ruby on Rails. Someone told me that I
should get RadRails to use as my IDE. RadRails.org seems to be dead
now. Has something bad happened? Or do I just have my URL wrong? Is
there another good Rails IDE? I''m developing on windows right now.
Thanks!

wxRIDE Finally Available
Hello fellow wxRuby users,
Well, after a long period in which I originally announced that I was
creating an IDE, I have finally become satisfied enough to release a SVN
Version of wxRIDE. I started the project out, and in cases where I couldn''t
launch the application again, I utilized SciTE (Which uses Scintilla, same
as wxRIDE), outside of that initial part, and subsequent failures to

What do you think about commercial applications for Rails?
Hello all,
I''m a RoR fan. I''ve read some RoR books, and I''m starting to use RoR for
commercial proyects.
As I use RoR more and more, I think about inexistent tools that would be
great to have when developing applications in RoR. For example: an IDE
with more features than RadRails. So then I think "hey! you could
produce one of these tools".
Some of these

Why is there no Smalltalk-like IDE for Ruby?
I posted this to comp.lang.ruby and comp.lang.smalltalk, and my blog.
I will likely get destroyed, but it will be worth it if at least one
nugget of information helps the Ruby IDE makers.

Hi all --
I shout my question to the entire Ruby + Smalltalk community: Smalltalk
has had amazing IDEs for decades, why not Ruby? Smalltalkers, Ruby
needs your help!

TextMate for Rails development -- why?
Greetings,
I am curious, I see quite a few references to using TextMate for
rails development. I downloaded TextMate and used it for 30 days. I
do not see what everyone is raving about. Snipplets are nice, but
other editors do the same thing, some with much more power.
Can anyone tell me what makes people draw to TextMate? Maybe I am
missing the whole reason, I''d really like to

Respect and Disappointment
I''ve finally started a blog. I really didn''t want to go public with it
until I was sure I keep it up, but DHH posted a entry to his blog that I
feel compelled to comment on.
You can read about it on my blog:
