syslinux-3.36-pre8 feedback
...machines (one PII 350, one 486DX4) Floppy boot with syslinux is very very slow, more than 18 mn to boot a linux kernel from floppy on the 2 machines. Tested with 3 different disquettes that were know to work, boot is reached after this very long time. Noise from floppy head make think floppy wait approximatly one minute between each read. No problem with pxe boot with Intel boot agent v4.19 and e100 and 3.36-pre8 Going back to syslinux-3.20 or 3.35 make the two machines boot normally with syslinux and floppy. Gilles

samba3: need to wait 3 minutes before login
...tations. the main problem is, that the workstations have to wait for about 3 minutes after they started, before a user can login. in other words: the computer starts and if you try to login then immediatly you'll get "domain manos not available" or something like this. but if you wait approximatly 3 minutes you are able to login successfully. does anyone know about this problem and how we could solve it ? thank you, livius

TDM2400P FXS Only vs. T1/E1 to FXS Channel Banks
...on of providing FXS is going to have the best results with faxing. I'm only looking to see what method is going to provide the best digitization into Asterisk, not for transmission from Asterisk to else where. Any recommendations of specific channel banks are welcome. I will need to provide approximatly 216 FXS Ports and need to make sure my conversion from FXS to digital is the best I can get. Thanks in advance! -Jon

Graphical table in R
...tput. When I say tabulated data, what I mean is a table with rows and columns. This would be useful when reading in a big file, performing some analysis on it, and then wanting to display the results as a table. Something like plot(x,...) where x is a matrix For example, the result could look (approximatly) like... +-------+-----------+ | A | B | +-------+-----------+ | 1 | 33278 | | 2 | 6790 | ... | 10 | 1 | | 12 | 6 | +-------+-----------+ I havent (and cant) see any way to do this. Is there currently any way to do this? I imagine it could be...

Problem with reproducing log likelihood estimated with ghyp package

solving equation system
Hello, I want to solve some two dimensional equation system with R. Some systems are not solvable analytically. Here is an example: (I) 1/n*sum{from_i=1_to_n}(Xi) = ln lambda + digamma(c) (II) mean(X) = x / lambda I want to find lambda and c, which R-function could do that task? XenServer 5.6 FP1 - CPU utilization using sar
...VM, I see the indication on the XenCenter performance graph on CPU 0. It does increase quickly. Neither sar output gives any sort of indication that the CPU is being loaded. This VM is pinned to both processor 0 and 1 using VCPUs-params:mask=0,1 sar -P 0 -P 1 -u 2 100 shows %user, %system, etc approximatly 0.00 Can anyone provide me a hint at what I might be overlooking. Maybe the VCPU does not directly correlate to the physical processor? There appears to be coorelation between the DOMU when I list VCPUs-params. Generate missing data patterns
...can get any advice how to do this. I also tried rmultinom or sample but without any success so far. Another question is what to to if want the missing pattern R and simulate a certain amount of missingnes mybe about 10 %? I guess i have to mix the probabilities for each row in such a way to get approximatly the wanted missingnes in percent. best regards Andreas

Performance problems with bitmaphandling on mac (only)
...on linux (ubuntu and freebsd), but on mac I've severe performance issues using bitmaps. I tracked it down that it has something to do with hbitmap using the api for creating a 10 mega pixel image and saving as a bitmap file. On windows this takes about 1.400 ms, on ubuntu 2.000 ms but on mac approximatly 30.000 (with 100% CPU usage). I already did researches in the newsgroups and assume that there are conversions taking place. If I change the bit depth to 16 I can reduce the time to approx. 8.000 ms on mac also. I know that there's a project of a DIB Engine. But as it seems (studying other...

Time to connect
Greetings Fellow Sambaiites! I have a small problem that I haven't seen addressed in any of the forums (have searched the net to no avail!). I have a small 100 mbit network................using Samba 1.9.18p10 on a Slack box as the PDC. When I initially look in the NN on any Win95,98 and NT boxes, the Samba box appears...................when I try to browse the Samba shares on the

Some smbd-processes uses 99% CPU and push load to 10
Hi all I have a samba 3.0.2a PDC with OpenLDAP running since some month. Approximatly once in 2 weeks there is a problem with one smbd-child process which eats up all cpu-resources. I have to kill (-2) it by hand after that all works normal. I can't figure out why. Today i had the chance to "strace" this process since all "clients" go for a birthday party....

Open Source Research
...information and knowledge. It would help me a lot in my research if I could have a short interview, through e-mail or preferable IRC, with someone who is working on Theora. This is only to establish some facts about day-to-day work in an OSS project, so the interview should not take more then approximatly 15 minutes of your time. You can reach me through this list, personal email, or on #theora (nickname: kyrrem). I will be the only one with access to the transcripts from the interview, and if anything ends up in the final paper it will be completely anonymous. I believe many firms and organ...

I want traffic http traffic to be shared fairly between connected ip addresses, meaning if two clients connects, one opens many connections and one opens one connection, I want them both to get approximatly the same bandwidth. to do all this, I am trying to create a tree like this: ROOT_QUEUE (HTB) +- LAN_QUEUE (HTB, rate 100Mbit) +- INET_QUEUE (HTB, rate 100Kbps) + INET_INTERACTIVE (HTB, rate 10Kbps, ceil 100Kbps, prio 2) + INET_DEFAULT (HTB, rate 90Kbps, ceil 100Kbps, prio 1...

Tuning for a large environment
Hello, I am currently using Samba 2.2.3a on a Sequent box running DYNIX/ptx v4.0. We are serving up approximatly 4.5 terrabytes of data from a Hitachi Data Systems storage array connected to our server by fiber channel. Many of our users are on Citrix which connects to our SAMBA server via a Gigabit Ethernet connection. There are still others that are connecting directly from their PCs which are connected t...

PR#8528
...s a serious problem. I think you will find that the= =20 pgamma code of 2.0.0 did not work for small shape parameters (similar to th= e=20 problems exhibited by pbeta still for small parameters see PR#2894), was=20 inaccurate for large shape parameters (> 1e5) when it resorted to the norma= l=20 approximation and was pretty slow in between. Indeed, the normal approximat= ion was the=20 cause of PR#7307. I don't understand your comments about=20 "pt_ =3D -x * (log(1 + (lambda-x)/x) - (lambda-x)/x) =3D -x * log((lambda-x= )/x) -=20 (lambda-x)=20 and naively assumes that this is small enough...

Tweaking AGGRESSIVE_SUPPRESSOR
Using TDM400's here and I have tried everything to cure the echo. I have used the Milliwatt test from the telco and from asterisk to tune RX/TX gain via a patched ztmonitor. What happens is I experience midcall echo. I turned on aggressive_suppressor and it seems to do great. The problem happens with misc. noise around the office will cause it to mute the other end of a phone call while
