dvd+rw-tools ported to FreeBSD (Sony 500A DVD[+/-]R[W] support)
I just finished up a port of Andy Polyakov's excellent dvd+rw-tools
to FreeBSD, and he has incorporated the patches into his release:
http://fy.chalmers.se/~appro/
http://fy.chalmers.se/~appro/linux/DVD+RW/
http://fy.chalmers.se/~appro/linux/DVD+RW/tools/
(version 5.8.4.4.4)
These tools support DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, and DVD+RW format dvd burners,
including the popular Sony

Linear model and approx function
Dear all;
I have a dataframe with several columns. The columns are the elevation,
volume and the area of the cells (which were placed inside a polygon). I
have extracted them from DEM raster to calculate the volume under polygon
and the elevation for a specific volume of the reservoir.

X11 display issues
Hi,
This also has been discussed in SSHSCI's SSH context. All SSH versions
(both SSHSCI and OpenSSH) derive value for DISPLAY variable from
`uname -n`. The problem is that the returned value is not necessarily
resolvable to a valid IP number which in turn might cause a failure.
To make it fool-proof I suggest to set DISPLAY to the interface's
address the user has reached the system in

[Bug 1085] Intermittent ssh core dumps
http://bugzilla.mindrot.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1085
------- Comment #13 from dtucker at zip.com.au 2006-10-03 20:36 -------
I'm now pretty sure this an OpenSSL bug. I helped someone else with a
crash in the same place (DH GEX) and was able to reproduce it. It was
a caused by a problem in UltraSPARC assembler implementation of
bn_sub_words(). Since it's in the assembler code, building

dvd+rw+r for FreeBSD
I'm not subscribed to this list; but I read that
Matthew Dillon has ported the dvd+rw tools to FreeBSD.
I just compiled and installed the application; but I
can't burn to a DVD+RW on a Sony DRU-500A.
command: growisofs -Z /dev/acd0c -rl ./testfile
result: ":-( unable to CAMGETPASSTHRU for /dev/acd0c:

Problems with writing Dual Layer DVD
Hi,
I am running Centos 4 (fully updated on this box).
I removed the old DVD writer (/dev/hdc) and installed a new LG GH20
"Internal Super Multi DVD Rewriter" with a SATA interface - this shows
up as /dev/scd0.
When I insert a pre-recorded DVD autorun mounts it and displays the
contents without any hassles. It appears to me that the required kernel
modules are loaded - as copied

sftp-server and chown
Hi,
I've already discussed this issue in SSHSCI's SSH 2.2 context on
ssh at clinet.fi list. My standpoint is that it's wrong and meaningless
to perform chown in sftp-server as the file is most likely copied
between systems with distinct accounting system where user is not
necessarily (and even unlikely) has same numeric user id. The original
bug report was that user couldn't

Authentication stops working after approx 5 mins -getent passwd fixes it for 5-10 mins
...: files

My problem is that I can log in from my Active Directory to the Cabinet share using the itbsjb and admin account. This works for a while (appros 5-10 mins) and then stops working. Any login from any remote machine just fails authentication.
In the winbind.log I find:

[Flac-users] > Re: Compression of single-file CD image
Would it be a better ripping technique to read the CD as an image, rather than ripping audio?

CDRW and DVDRW support in Centos 4.4
HI, I configured a minimum install on Centos 4.4 and then added
postfix+dovecot+openwebmail
I want to use Mondo Rescue (disaster recovery solution) and the program
needs CD-R/RW and DVD-+R/RW support.
What are the packages required to install via yum to provide support for the
creation of CD/DVD?
I know mkisofs and cdrecord are two of them, what others?
thanks,

dvd+rw+r for FreeBSD -- Progress but no success
That's where I first went for information. I've
successfully burned a CD-R using cdrecord, as opposed
to burncd, which I would normally use for ide burners.
I will check on the firmware.
Thanks,

PXELINUX: suggestion for improvement
Hi,
We're planning to deploy PXELINUX as a primary kernel loader in cluster
environment. Problem is that we plan to have IP numbers assigned
dynamically while there is no guarantee that all machines has same CPU
architecture. This makes IP-based config search algorithm inappropriate
for our purposes because we [naturally] expect loaded kernel to match
hardware. For this reason I've

memdisk.asm patch
While getting pqmagic(*) working off memdisk under [pxe|iso]linux I
noticed that the the whole thing freezes whenever the mouse moves under
I/O against memdisk [most notably when you open help index]. Attached
patch [relative to 1.67] cured the problem.
Cheers. Andy.

[PATCH] pxelinux corrupts ipappend-ed paramaters...
Attached patch addresses following problems with pxelinux:
1. If a x0y number is present in ip address to be ipappend-ed, middle
zero is omitted, e.g. 192.168.0.109 is passed as 192.168.0.19.
2. UDP port numbers allocated by pxelinux.0 are 100% predictable,
which might cause trouble when client reboots too fast for orphaned
tftpd process to time out.
The latter problem is [suggested to
