Help with plotting a line that is multicoloured based on levels of a factor
Hi All, I'm trying to plot data that is a time series of flows that are associated with a specific level, and I would like each level to represent a colour in a line plot. Here is some data that approximates what I'm using: date=c(1:300) flow=sin(2*pi/53*c(1:300)) levels=c(rep(c("high","med","low"),100)) data=cbind.data.frame(date, flow, levels)

"quick check" failed
Hi folks, We ran 2 mirror jobs using "rsync -av remote:/from /to" of appr. 700 GByte. Problem: On the second run about 10 or 15 files were copied again, even though we are very sure that there was no service running which could have changed the files on remote:/from or on /to. Esp. Samba and NFS were off. How comes? The remote host has rsync version 3.0.4. The localhost uses version

"Duplicate workgroup names in browse list" problem reappeared in 3.0.5
Starting from version 3.0.2 (or .3?) there were a misfeature that caused workgroup names to show up as duplicates in workstations' browse lists. Fix for this didn't reach into 3.0.5-pre1, but rc1 had this fixed. Today I upgraded 3.0.5-rc1 to 3.0.5-2 (FC2 binary rpm from samba.org) and the problem reappeared. To be more spesific, the problem appears when there are more that one workgroup

Now I'd like to create a crosstable where I compare the distribution of each vector (df-column) with each other. For the comparison I want to use the ks.test(). The result should contain as row and column names the column names of the input dataframe and the cells should

massive performance problems if transferring many small files
Hi, If I try to transfer about 27.000 small HTML-Files from my Windows-PC to our central SAMBA-Server I'll get massive performance problems. First the performance looks ok but after a time period of 3 minutes it goes slow down - appr. one file per second will be transferred. Has anyone an idea what I can tune to avoid this annoying behaviour. My samba server configuration: - OS: Solaris 8

Lustre buffer cache causes large system overhead.
We have just discovered that a large buffer cache generated from traversing a lustre file system will cause a significant system overhead for applications with high memory demands. We have seen a 50% slowdown or worse for applications. Even High Performance Linpack, that have no file IO whatsoever is affected. The only remedy seems to be to empty the buffer cache from memory by running
