mailbox locking
Dear Colleagues,
I use exim's appendfile transport, procmail and a local mutt on my
system, they all (to my knowledge) use lockfiles when working with
mboxes.
However, `doveconf | grep lock` says
dotlock_use_excl = yes
lock_method = fcntl
mail_max_lock_timeout = 0
mbox_dotlock_change_timeout = 2 mins
mbox_lock_timeout = 5 mins
mbox_read_locks = fcntl
mbox_write_locks = dotlock fcntl

New mail not appearing consistently in Outlook 2003
Hi all,
I have continuously experienced a new mail not appearing problem in Outlook
2003 on Windows XP. Using Dovecot 0.99.14 on Debian Sarge and now in 1.0rc26
and rc27.
The problem exhibits itself as:
Some new mail is randomly(?) not shown in my mailbox. More new mail does
appear, so it's difficult to know when a message has been missed. If I
restart Outlook the missed new messages will

i've also exim 4.63 configured for use with dovecot's AUTH.
on local delivery via exim -> dovecot LDA, i see two errors:

Timo, thanks for writing and releasing Dovecot. I've recently
discovered it and have been very impressed at the speed and balance
between flexibility and simplicity.
I had to make a packet-trace to be sure that encryption with OpenSSL was
working correctly, since it all 'just worked' first time without complex
configuration, which I don't think I've ever seen before ;-) LDAP

it? Or is it ready to be used. can't find any docs on it.

[LLVMdev] LLD archive library design
...ne parseFile() is always returns a vector of File* objects. In the non-force-load case it would return a vector of one FileArchive*.

That already happens in appendFiles().

Truncated emails in Dovecot (v1.0.13)
Odd situation started recently whereby emails that are delivered into a
maildir folder are being truncated when read. The emails are delivered
via Exim and I can see the emails are complete when I look inside them.
However, when viewing the emails via Thunderbird or a webmail client,
they are truncated.

Broken auth-* sockets.
Hello.
I am migrating my servers to Ubuntu and have been having an issue with
Dovecot authenticator service.
Exim is set up to use dovecot-auth, anticipating the question whether
exim binary was compiled with support of Dovecot authenticator, it was:

[LLVMdev] LLD archive library design
Hi Nick,
Here is my understanding,
1) lld-core creates a ReaderOptionsArchive class with the (Reader,
CommandLine options flag)
2) lld-core creates an object of type ReaderArchive(ReaderOptions), that
users would subclass (off ArchiveLibraryFile)
a) GNUArchiveLibrary
b) BSDArchiveLibrary
b) MachOArchiveLibrary
c) COFFArchiveLibrary
3) ReaderArchive has two functions

Exim and Dovecot2 SASL: 435 Unable to authenticate at present
Hi. I had working Exim 4.71 and Dovecot 1.2.9 SASL configuration on
Ubuntu Lucid, but needed some features from dovecot2, so I installed
2.0.13 from
https://launchpad.net/~carsten-uppenbrink-net/+archive/dovecot2 . Now I
get Subj error while trying to authenticate via dovecot auth-client
socket. However IMAP auth works fine with 2.0.13 and smtp auth worked
fine until upgrade, so I think

SV: Marking all emails in "Trash" as opened, and also prohibiting email clients from creating new ma
I tried with following:
require ["imap4flags"];
if not hasflag :is "\\Seen" {
setflag "\\Seen";
}
And then this in plugins.conf:
plugin {
sieve_plugins = sieve_imapsieve
imapsieve_mailbox1_name = Trash
imapsieve_mailbox1_before = file:/etc/dovecot/sieve/trash.sieve
}
It works in outlook, the mail is opened (mark as read) when it goes to
trash.
