mailbox locking
Dear Colleagues,
I use exim's appendfile transport, procmail and a local mutt on my
system, they all (to my knowledge) use lockfiles when working with
mboxes.
However, `doveconf | grep lock` says
dotlock_use_excl = yes
lock_method = fcntl
mail_max_lock_timeout = 0
mbox_dotlock_change_timeout = 2 mins
mbox_lock_timeout = 5 mins

The mail box format is mbox on the server. The mail delivery is by exim4
from Debian Sarge. I wondered if there was a locking problem between exim4
and dovecot? My transport in exim4 for delivering the mail is:
mail_spool_home:
debug_print = "T: appendfile for $local_part@$domain"
driver = appendfile
file = /home/vmail/$domain/$local_part/INBOX
delivery_date_add
envelope_to_add
return_path_add
group = mail
mode = 0660
mode_fail_narrower = false
The problem is reproducable in that I see the problem occur everyday. I am

Apple mail
I have strange situation with Appe mail and latest (rc22) Dovecot.
I using "mbox" POP3 (not IMAP) type of message box on server (exim: driver=appendfile)
I also using MySQL authentification and SSL.
Server - Linux Slackware 11.0
Linux/Thunderbird, WinXP/Thunderbird, WinXP/Outlook clients are working fine with their message boxes. But Apple mail doesn't delete messages in user's mbox, so client gets a lot of duplicate messages.

A little tip: if anyone is interested in having their MDA write Maildir
with CR+LF so that sendfile(2) can be used on all messages (not just
those
created by Dovecot), Exim offers this natively by adding the "use_crlf"
option to the appendfile transport which seems to work fine with 0.99.10
(though not 0.99.9.1, maybe because of 2003-06-04 17:39 in Changelog).
It seems Dovecot is using the ,W= Maildir tag for some type of size
instead of ,S= but I haven't traced far enough to work out what exactly
W/virtual_size means, am I right in...

Dovecot Deliver?
I guess Dovecot has an LDA called deliver. What is it and how do I use
it? Or is it ready to be used. can't find any docs on it.

That already happens in appendFiles().

Truncated emails in Dovecot (v1.0.13)
Odd situation started recently whereby emails that are delivered into a
maildir folder are being truncated when read. The emails are delivered
via Exim and I can see the emails are complete when I look inside them.
However, when viewing the emails via Thunderbird or a webmail client,
they are truncated.

[LLVMdev] LLD archive library design
Hi Nick,
Here is my understanding,
1) lld-core creates a ReaderOptionsArchive class with the (Reader,
CommandLine options flag)
2) lld-core creates an object of type ReaderArchive(ReaderOptions), that
users would subclass (off ArchiveLibraryFile)
a) GNUArchiveLibrary
b) BSDArchiveLibrary
b) MachOArchiveLibrary
c) COFFArchiveLibrary
3) ReaderArchive has two functions

I tried with following:
require ["imap4flags"];
if not hasflag :is "\\Seen" {
setflag "\\Seen";
}
And then this in plugins.conf:
plugin {
sieve_plugins = sieve_imapsieve
imapsieve_mailbox1_name = Trash
imapsieve_mailbox1_before = file:/etc/dovecot/sieve/trash.sieve
}
It works in outlook, the mail is opened (mark as read) when it goes to
trash.
