Asterisk/app_rpt and bandwidth
Hello to the list, I have a question about Asterisk/app_rpt: When a signal is *not* being received and or transmitted by the radio system attached to Asterisk/app_rpt via its interface, is the incoming and or outgoing data suppressed (silence suppression)? In other words! At idle but still connected to some other device, what data will be transferred?...

app_rpt and chan_usbradio removal from trunk
Good morning, There is a new patch up on reviewboard[1] right now for the removal of app_rpt and chan_usbradio from Asterisk trunk. As it stands right now these two modules do not appear to be maintained in this repository and have out-of-date code. Russellb's patch will see these to modules removed from asterisk trunk (asterisk 11). If a large part of the community wishes to hel...

Asterisk with app_RPT question
Dear All, I am not sure if this is the right place to ask my question but I can't find a newsgroup or support for this app_RPT concept so I hope if some one in this community who have tried it out could help me out. I studied this application requirments and saw the hardware needed they describe a radio quad which uses RJ 45 but I can't see where the RJ goes in order to be able to communicate with the radio devices,...

"app_rpt is an application which comes bundled with Asterisk, however, a later version may be available on our source repository. All you need to do is go to asterisk.org, download asterisk, configure the asterisk to build app_rpt by modifying the Makefile in the asterisk/apps directory, and then compile an...

chan_echolink
Greetings, Where can I get the chan_echolink channel driver from? I've seen reference to it, but have yet to find a place to download/compile it. It is part of the app_rpt.so module... I am told, but do not see the source with app_rpt. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Re: Radio over *
...There's nothing preventing someone from using the idea for a non-ham network, in fact there are several already (eQSO for PMR446, the European equivalent of FRS). And Jim Dixon has made a parallel effort "AllStar" using Asterisk. I'm sure there are more. Once again, go look at the app_rpt documentation at http://www.zapatatelephony.org/app_rpt.html and look at the app_rpt right their in your Asterisk distro. DingoTel is the same sort of thing but with a voice recognition front end and voice activated transmit/receive switching VOX. I haven't had much luck in applications where...

FRS / FRS/GMRS 2-way radios as SIP clients
Any one know of software that allows 2-way radios as VoIP(SIP) clients, besides dingotel's usb & mic cable trick ? http://www.dingotel.com/2way/requirements2way.asp They might be ok if the SIP client was not hardcode to their own SIP proxy Has anyone tried any hacks to get the 2-way radio SIP client to regsiter to a * box. hmm chan_frsgmfrs anyone? using the usb/mic cable under linux :)

Interconnect Radio units using asterisk
Hi all, This my first mail in the community. My name is Manolo. I'm new in Asterisk. My objective is to control some radio using Asterisk via web. In google I could see that the application app_rpt had this goal, but currently is not in the new Asterisk 1.8 or higher. Thinking in future, I thought the easer way to do that is to buy some RoIP unit and do the communication with asterisk via SIP or IAX2. Someone with experience in these kind of units, could give me some link or P/N of...

Re: FRS and GMRS via *
...tc all have fairly tight controls to keep from being abused (although with a little Linux knowledge, the IRLP package can easily be used to set up your own network using their protocol). Jim Dixon seems to have done the work to integrate radios with * already. See http://www.zapatatelephony.org/app_rpt.html -- it's all there including a PCI card that interfaces to 4 duplex radios for $500 and a single card that interfaces to one radio for $100 (plus 2 FXS ports). For the rest of the details go look at the app_rpt application. There has been a lot of speculation on this list on the legalit...

using ast_request("zap", format, "pseudo")?
...e some enhancements to one of the applications, and am trying to use ast_request("zap", format, "pseudo") to create a new channel on /dev/zap/pseudo, which I can then bind to a zaptel conference and play a stream to it. I've been using as inspiration the Radio Repeater app, app_rpt.c, which uses this technique to play idents and announcements. Unfortunately, I can't get it to work. In chan_zap.c, having called zt_request(), it decides that the zt_pvt for my X100P card is a sufficient match for the request, which terminates the search loop and then fails later tests. The...

E&M and other Radio-based signalling
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Have anyone tried using this? I've looked at app_rpt, and that's a nice project, but have anyone tried using Asterisk for radio services using a Mux e.g.? I was thinking of using an E&M Mux (or channel bank i think) with TX/RX/BUSY/PTT functionality. Or even tried to decode any signalling commonly used with radio communication? -----BEGIN PG...

Re: Asterisk-Users Digest, Vol 7, Issue 304
...mething like this? We didn't do it with Asterisk, but a group I have been part of for about 30 years is doing this in northern California using homemade crossbar switches and Mitel PBXs and T1. Obviously we are more than a little interested in Asterisk. One last time - go read Jim Dixon's app_rpt stuff, that looks like the place to start. Now we need someone to write a module to emulate an IMTS base station and our telco will be complete ;)

Nokia PoC PTT Asterisk
...n the list regarding integrating Nokia's PTT (nokia 6020 and nokia 6230i) with asterisk And use * as a PTT server.. So far I was able to have mobile register itself , send an invite to it, and get SIP error 603 (DECLINED) back from it. And ofcourse the PTT sign on the mobile is off. App_rpt , it mentioned that is can do PTT , but it is not clear.. According to the POC specs , the mobile should register with a POC server , with GLMS ( for group management) , and SIP core.. Anyone have any idea's, or would like to share efforts Regards. ---------------------------...
