Question on script
Hi all, I am trying to extract from the aplay -l output the Card and Device numbers. I had a script that was working but found another motherboard that has an EXTRA word. HDA Nvidia and HDA ATI HDMI is what I am talking about below. how do I search for a line that has HDMI (which I know how to do), then ignore everything upto the device work and take the next field after that? Thanks, Jerry

su command
I am running pulseaudio on centOS 6.5 audio works fine as the user. running the command aplay /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav works fine. when I login as root and run the command su user -c "aplay /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav" it does not work. I thought su actually runs as that user... is there some "magic" to su I don't know about? How might I get

I have my audio working with ALSA - microphone in plays through my audio out. I'm running a basic configuration using the defaults provided, and the ALSA example config file for ices. usb - audio asterisk crashes
I am using usb-audio for Console/Dsp with asterisk. it is crashing 1.4.21 and also svn. During the brief times its working the audio is choppy but understandable. I have used aplay and arecord at the same time on the same wave file and they work fine every time and I have done it MANY times. Asterisk failes after 1 or 2 times. Any ideas on something I can try? ogg123 playing 24bit flac
Hi! Recently I made some recordings (44.1kH/24bit WAV), and after post-processing (normalization, noide reduction) I saved them as flac (still 44.1kHz/24bit). I noticed that ogg123 can decode these, but it will output 24 bit only. Specifically there's no option to transform the output to 16bit. When trying to pipe the 24bit WAV output of ogg123 into aplay, aplay refused to accept the 24 bit
