[SoC09-Idea] Movement Ecology add-ons for adehabitat package
Hi all, here's a proposal for a SoC project on wildlife movement patterns analysis. A MSc student is available to anwser the call, of course. The idea has already been briefly discussed with the mantainer of the adehabitat package and the AniMov project community. Short description Develop some add-on functions to use the adehabitat package to perform basic movement ecology analysis, in

problem with location of libraries 64-bit (opensuse)
Dear list, there seems to be a problem with the standard location of R?s 64-bit libs at least under openSUSE. I had two user questions regarding the compilation of rpy2 for 64-bit systems. Personally I don`t know rpy2 but maybe someone on this list can decide if the mistake lies on R`s side or on rpy2?s side or in between. R-devel is installed in these cases, I asked. Latest R-base or

adehabitat version 1.8
...of the Mahalanobis distances in habitat selection studies. This method has been suggested by Prof. James Dunn as an alternative * A new bug tracking system has been set up for adehabitat thanks to the great work of Paolo Cavallini (Faunalia). It is available at: https://www.faunalia.it/animove/trac/ Any other project intended to manage, store, analyze animals movements can be added there, provided it is free and open source. * Note that my e-mail adress has changed. It is now: clement.calenge at oncfs.gouv.fr Happy testing, Cl?ment Calenge -- Cl?ment CALENGE Office national d...

[SoC 2009] will R Foundation participate? project proposal: fractal analysis
Hello R developers, I know it is still a bit early to talk about Summer of Code, but I wish to know what are, approximately, plans for this year. Last year I applied as a student under OSGeo with a QGIS-R project and had a very positive experience [0], therefore I plan to participate again. I found an interesting hint [1], about implementing fractal analysis in R, and a would-be mentor has

How can I use Adehabitat to obtain an .asc object with the predicted values of a niche model?
Dear all, I'm using the package adehabitat in R to import several .asc files (=matrix), and also create a kasc object (=dataframe) with all of them. The main idea is to use this kasc object to map the predicted values of climate-matching model for an overall area. However, I don't know how to proceed: Do I have to project the model (already stored in R) onto the kasc object directly, or

Need script to create new waypoint
Dear help-list members, I am a student at Durham University (UK) conducting a PhD on spatial representation in baboons. Currently, I'm analysing the effect of sampling interval on home range calculations. I have followed the baboons for 234 days in the field, each day is represented by about 1000 waypoints (x,y coordinates) recorded at irregular time intervals. Consecutive waypoints in
