Any existing functions for reading and extracting data from path names?
...inherited a set of data files that use the file system as a
sort of poor man's database, i.e., the data files are nested in
directories that indicate which city they come from. For example:

dir.create(i)
for(j in paste("data", 1:2, ".csv", sep="")) {

I'm trying to create a custom function that "mean-centers" data and can be
applied across many columns.
Here is an example dataset, which is similar to my dataset:

Los Angeles,5/8/11,49,4.69
Los Angeles,5/15/11,40,5.05
New York,5/1/11,259,6.4
New York,5/8/11,187,5.3
New York,5/15/11,177,5.7
Paris,5/1/11,672,6.26
Paris,5/8/11,514,5.3
Paris,5/15/11,455,5.2
I want to mean-center the "Units" and "AveragePrice" Columns.
So, I...

flash fails to work on Los Angeles Times website - fix
Hello,
I have a 32-bit install of C5.2 on my Intel Centrino Laptop (2005).
The Adobe flash plugin works fine in Firefox in all cases except on the Los Angeles Times website http://www.latimes.com.
I was baffled by this for a few months, since it works on another 32-bit C5.2 box. When I realized that the only real difference was that the laptop had no LAMP install, and both had the same elaborate set of hosts redirects (to avoid adverts), it seemed rea...

XCP: Custom templates
...te a custom template for XCP? Or edit an existing
one? I know that I could create a VM and then exported as a template,
but I would prefer to create a template like "Debian Lenny 5.0" that
install debian from the network but with 64bits instead of the 32bits
used by the template.
