A useful GUI?
I saw an ad in the July 2001 Amstat News for a complex sample survey analysis package called Wesvar. The package has what appears to be a useful feature called a "Workbook" by which the user navigates analysis output. This is a hierarchical tree in which the user may click on a part of the analysis (table, regression fit,...

References verifying accuracy of R for basic statistical calculations and tests
Do you know of any references that verify the accuracy of R for basic statistical calculations and tests. The results of these studies should indicate that R results are the same as the results of other statistical packages to a certain number of decimal places on some benchmark calculations. Thanks, Corey Powell Clinical Data Analyst Broncus Technologies cpowell@broncus.com [[alternative

I've made a long search about that but I found nothing. Please help me!! Thanx, Talita Leite ------------------------------------------------- Este e-mail foi enviado pelo Webmail da UFAL IMP:

It was a note on an earlier article by Cureton, who in turn cited an American Journal of Psychology article by Holtxman(1950, v63, 615-617). http://amstat.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/00031305.1968.10480435?src=recsys Searching on that article I see the first hit is a citation to some R documentation for hte MBESS::s.u function, which does implement it as recommended by Holtzman. If I were voting on this I would put greater weight on the JK&...

Slashdot thread references R/Quantian and another new R/S-PLUS book pending
...The thread is at: http://ask.slashdot.org/askslashdot/04/12/13/2355258.shtml?tid=185&tid=4 The OP's query was targeted for high school to first year college age students, but as is typical with Slashdot, the scope of the dialog tends to wander.... Also, I was reading the latest issue of Amstat News and noted that there is a new book from Springer on R/S-PLUS pending by Professor Brian Everitt called "An R And S-Plus Companion To Multivariate Analysis". The book appears to be due to be release next month. The link for the Springer site is: http://www.springeronline.com/sgw/cda/...

Study design question; MLB; pay and performance.
Dear List Members, I am in the process of designing a study examining pay and performance in Major League Baseball across several seasons, and before I get too deeply into it, I'd like to ask whether the group members think that performance across seasons is independent, or if it needs to be treated like a time-series variable so that lack of independence can be controlled. Any ideas or
