winbind / nss_winbind with Solaris with large amout of uses/groups
...d Samba 2.2.2 for Solaris 7 ( Solaris 8 also ) but found out
that the "nss_winbind" support
is available in source-code, but not after compilation.
The neccessary entries in the Makefile after "configre" are missing !!
Why ?
I have got it to run and it works fine with a small amout of groups.
But deploying this samba/winbind version to a Windows network with more than
3000 user and
more than 200 groups gives following result:
"getent passwd" works fin, also adding "winbind" to /etc/nsswitch.conf and
looking through the
windows-users owned files is ok !...

memory question!
...E 1850(usb disabled kernel, cos it gets locked
up on heavy I/O). My domain0 has only 2 gigs of
memory. I have 2 guest domains 512 each. Now when i
try to create a 3rd guest domain of 512, xen wont let
me do it. My confusion is "Is 4G the max amount of
memory a domain can get/ or is 4G the max amout of
cumulative memory all the domains can get(ie. dom0,
dom1, dom2... etc..combined all together)."
can i have my domain0 have 4G ram, and at the same
time domain1 have 4 G of ram?
thanks

What is the highest quality codec I can use for recording voice messages?
I have looked at the codec's available but I don't know how get the highest
quality recorded message.
If a user calls in over the normal telephone network is this limited to the
carriers codec or the codec at the asterisk side?
Would I get a higher quality result using VoIP rather than the normal
network?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Fats.

Toll fraud detection/password script

problems with one stone:
1) Notify me of potential brute forcers (multiple attempts

2) Notify me of (l)users who are having password issues

cron and it works fine. My personal version is
modified to block (l)users after 10 failures on

Methodology is, if someone hasn't complained within

We do probably need to work out some sort of accounting system, it can
probably reliably only be a total value of resources, since we've no
idea if the host driver will store them in VRAM or main memory. Quite

importing multiple file form folder
...(m) values are always the same. My final dataset should lokk
like this :
column 1 as Length(m) ; column 2 as Temperature from first file ; column3
as temperature from second file...and so on...
I know how to import this manualy, but can seem to find a way to automate
it...the problem is that the amout of files will be growing for quite quite
some time, so automation is necessary.
Any help is greatly apreciated.

slow responding firewall server

fine, there are no delays there. The DSL line shows very little latency

I note that squid uses a fair amout of CPU on the PII450 from time to
time, but can't seem to get a handle on what is causing the delay. The
only thing I can think of is that the PII450 running squid is just slow
compared to the old Athlon box and I am reaping the "benefits" of that.
I do find that hard to believ...

reminded about how it actually was built after the presentation;
apparently this information had been lost somewhere along the chain.)
And as a fun fact, it can be mentioned that a large amout of the
windows/arm64 support in LLVM/LLD was developed before I even had access
to this OS for testing, or even MSVC for reference - most of it was
developed and tested just with wine (bootstrapped from a handful of
reference windows/arm64 binaries).

IP address to WINS address?
Is it possible to use smbclient to look up the WINS address of a computer
given only its IP address (or DNS hostname)? I've been trying for two
days and looked through all the documentation, and the total amout of
information on doing anything useful with smbclient amount to exactly one

For example, I try to connect to a windows machine across the room from
me, using only its IP address:

Added interface ip=128...

[PATCH][XM-TEST] Test that tries to create a 16MB domain
This patch adds a test that tries to create a domain with only 16MB of
RAM. It verifies that the domain is created and that the console
works.
Right now this test fails for me: the domain just dies immediately
with no indication of why, or with any useful console data. Should we
put a sanity check on xm''s create and mem-set commands that prevent
the user from doing something we know

Traffic balancing by IP.
Hello all!
As far as I know that the traffic that will pass thru the router is balanced
so that all connections have the same privilegies. Is it possible to
configure the linux based router so that all computers will have the same
privilegies? I mean that if in default case full traffic is splitted by
connections, so I need to split it by users to prevent one user occupy all
traffic by starting
