I've got a problem regarding Win2K security on a Samba 2.2.3a domain. We've got an issue where anyone in the same domain can browse another users' C$. That's bad...bad bad bad. Any PC with the default share (C$) is easy prey. Is there a way to prevent this other than removing the share manually from each and every PC? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Al Moote

I had a system go down due to a storm that came through. It was on a UPS, but the outage was extreme. Anyhow...it ended up crashing and I had to run some e2fscks on it. Yesterday everything seemed fine fine fine. Today the users cannot read/write the files and the logon script doesn't run. It's being reported that they don't have access to the share. (eventhough they can see it)

Hello all, Just subscribed to the list, having a little trouble with samba as when i try to vew the system from windows it says You have no permissions to access this resource and i've tried everything i can. Could someone send me some sample files that work.. like smb.conf, smbpasswd, smbuser.. all the ones that are needed so i can see where i am going wrong. Or suggest something to me.

Just a quick question, I am trying to get samba reconfigured on my system to support ACLs. I was hoping to use the same scheme that the RedHat binary uses when placing my files (bins, mans, libs, etc...), I think I've got most of them sorted out (by referencing a bin installed system). I was hoping to use the flag --prefix= when configuring samba. (I think) I want to set / as the prefix.

you could use the "veto files =" option in [global] set a list of files/folders to be invisible to the users like this: veto files = /*.vbs/*.eml/Desktop/Cookies/ ...and on and on and on... It's a quick and easy fix. Otherwise you'll have to use logon home = \\%N\%U logon path = \\%N\%U options to specify another directory altogether to store profiles. Regards, Alan B.
