If you make instance variables be lower camel case, then you get serious conflict between ivars and methods. Doing this also deflates some of the ammunition used by advocates of _ for ivars :-)

Samba 3.0.x and Netapp filers
...way from Windows fileservers to Netapp Filers.
First I thought great thats cool get rid of some more MS boxes...
But now I face troubles connecting to the shares on the filers.
Our support states a cite from netapp as: "samba is not compliant with
the specs"
Could anyone suply me with ammunition to counter that or knows why the
netapp does not allow to authenticate/connect (even not for only listing
the shares)
best regards

Input from xen hosting providers?
This is my second mail because the first one turned into a two page novel.
Basically my question is this, what is your opinion on the following,
in regards to having to know about the os and USE in your hosting
environtment. Here is my problem...
We have a sales guy that sold people on the idea of having 4 windows
clients, and 2 "filestore" servers. filestore1 backs up to filestore2

Ruby/Rails facts?
I found these facts while in #ruby-lang irc?
<duracell8> 1. Limited Pool of developers who know Ruby. Get developers
to nominate if Ruby will be their secondary language.
<duracell8> 2. The serving of Ruby Apps from Apache using FastCGI is
broken the world over. It causes periodic process and database connection
blowouts. Move to a Mongrel Pack.

Need help for a quick fun t-shirt/polo project - graphics artist wanted
...15
minutes it'd take to whip up some cool graphics to put on the shirts it'd be
much appreciated. I was thinking of maybe a small logo or just the word VoIP
on the front and something awesome on the backside. One friend of mine
suggested a phone cord going around the shirt like a grenade or ammunition
belt that goes across the chest and back.
Maybe the word VoIP and a brief description, or some cool quote. If you're
willing to help me come up with a few designs, I'd have him make a few extra
shirts for you and I'd split the cost to ship 'em to you. Something more for
fun tha...

The third issue is about brightness of physically interactive objects (doors, barrels, ammunition, etc.), which worsens a picture a lot in places like camps, makes it easy to find hidings, betrays poltergeists:

ZFS layout on hardware RAID-5?
...tion. Well, that''s the
approach that seems to match our needs, anyway.
However, the disk array we have (not a new purchase) is a Hitachi (HDS)
9520V, consisting mostly of SATA drives. This array does not support
RAID-0 for some reason (one can guess that HDS does not want to provide
the ammunition for self-foot-shooting involving SATA drives). Our pressing
question is how to configure a shelf of 15 400GB SATA drives, with the idea
that we may add another such shelf within a year.
Prior to ZFS, we likely would''ve setup two 6D+1P RAID-5 groups on that
shelf, leaving a single hot-...

When we embarked on this project, we really wanted to find examples of
other high-volume web sites that had adopted RoR. We did not find any
that helped us argue our "cause". Having said that, the "Rails way"
armed us with a lot of ammunition to persuade our client to let us
give RoR a go.
Perhaps I am wrong, but I am wondering if the work we have done may
help others in the community when it comes to new projects. We have
been a Java house for nearly a decade and we have now adopted RoR for
our web-based projects. Is anyone inter...

hvmloader not compiled
Hi,
when I compile xen 3.1.0 on Debian Etch, the hvmloader file is not compiled at all. I have bin86 and bcc but nothing appears.
I followed http://www.howtoforge.com/debian_etch_xen_3.1 and googled a lot without success.
In the meanwhile I just used a precompiled hvmloader. I think this is ok, but it is not the smart way :)
Any idea ?
