some questions on dovecot or rather a mail system setup
Hi folks.
Perhaps you find some time to look into this,... if you think I should
better direct this do some dovecot mailing list,.. just tell :)
I'm trying to plan my mail system and would have some questions.
The overall idea is about the following:
- There is a (internet) server, which is the MTA (which will be postfix)
and imap and/or pop3 server (which shall be, guess, dovecot!).

Sieve also filter outgoing messages
Greetings,
A probably simple question and answer: can a sieve script be executed on
outgoing messages? I already use deliver on postfix, perhaps the sieve
script could be executed when saving to the Sent folder?

Doesn't matter with always_bcc :-)

Ah, OK. But this is not what I meant, because it would sent all messages
to one and a single mail address, for all users, right? I mean to add a
BCC per user to...

Keep a copy of email.
...at his mailboxes ?
I want this with all users. Can it be done ?
If not, does any one have any ideia how could it be done ?
We are having serius problems with backups, with this we gona be able to at
least save one or two days of each emails, than rotate them again.
I though about using postfix always_bcc, but would be everyones emails only
in one account. Though in migh use sieve for filter this acount and separete
it for each folder.. but i don't guess sieve could get a parameter from the
email to make a filter.. or can it ?
like, if email from user2 at domain.com it goes to user2 folder, but...

Panic on alway_bcc mail with attachment while using sdbox
I do always get a panic on service lmtp, while receiving a mail by postfix through always_bcc, containing an attachment. If the bcc recipient would be supplied by a small delay, I would say that the panic wouldn't occur, but I don't know how to verify this.
dovecot is configured with 'mail_attachment_dir' and the public namespace location is sdbox

Obtuse-smtpd and Postfix
Hi all..
I would like to switch to CENTOS Postfix from sendmail. My current
sendmail, in combination with
the very old obtuse-smtpd, allows me:
1. To control who of the internal users can send mail and
to which domain or accounts
2. To control who of the internal users can receive mail and from
which domain or accounts
3. To obtain a copy of all sent mails

Well, no. Every user can add a BCC in his client. Maybe you use a central
client configuration setup. I don't know your situation.

Well, as I said, "in postfix".

From a data flow (and privacy protection) POV, that wouldn't be much
different anymore from having *the MTA* feed a copy of (all incoming)
e-mails directly into an archiving mechanism, would it?

Input and suggestions: Mail mirror setup
Hello, everyone.
To make life for our operations team easier I am looking at setting up a
mail mirror of any email
which gets sent from certain machines. My current ideas go along the
following lines:
Each machine will use the Postfix "always_bcc" option and set it to an
address like mailmirror at mailmirror.openlane.com.
On mailmirror I am looking at setting up Dovecot with public folders and
a number of users, which probably
will authenticate via Active Directory. I intend to create a main public
folder called MailMirror and then

From Maildir back to smtp
Not sure how this can be done.
Right now I'm running a free backup MX record service. People point
their high MX records to my servers and if they go down we store the
email. When they come back up it's delivered.
What I want to do is have a premium service that would allow them to
view through IMAP the stored email. In order to do that I would have to
deliver the email locally to a

Overrideing pop delete?
Is it possible to override the POP3 delete on download command and make sure that messages stay on the server for at least X hours or X days?
It is important that the messages be around long enough to hit a snapshot cycle (using rsnapshot to backup ever hour).
