[Flac-users] FLAC 1.0.4 problems
.... What version of id3lib is being used in development? I've got a totally stock build of 3.8.0 -- should I try something older? Except for that, FLAC builds and runs fine, BUT... I also can't get other FLAC-aware apps to compile against the new FLAC. Specifically flac-tools 0.1.1 and alsaplayer-0.99.72. In the case of flac-tools, I get the same error that Ruslan Opritz reported. The configure script logs the following errors: /usr/local/lib/libFLAC.so: undefined reference to `log' /usr/local/lib/libFLAC.so: undefined reference to `floor' In the case of alsaplayer, the c...

reliable mp3 NON X player for streams
Hi there, I'm urgently searching for a bulletproof NON-X mp3 player for high bit rates that can be remotely controlled - if possible. (Server-Client?!) Right now I'm using mpg123 and this program not always starts flawlessly with streams. All ideas are appreciated. Streaming flac problems!!
Hello, My name is Vincent and I have some difficulties to realize my project. Indeed, I must developp a streaming flac client/server and I have some difficulties to find detailed information about this. I chose to use the platform Ices/Icecast to do my project. I took the Vorbis streaming like example but the library has not the same structure as the flac library. So , I send this message in

flac123 revival
Hello Dan Johnson, hello list, It's really weird that there's no working command line player for FLAC files. Dan Johnson created flac123 (licensed under the GPL) to fill that gap, and started the flac-tools project. Unfortunately, flac123 doesn't work anymore with the latest FLAC, and the flac-tools project has been idle for more than a year. I created a patch that makes flac123

Streaming With Flac
We have FLAC support on our AudioReQuest products, and we allow streaming from our built-in web server for MP3s, but can not get Flac working. Does anyone know a Windows based player that will play FLAC streams? I have tried the Winamp plug-in for FLAC (even updated it to 1.1.0), but streaming is not working. We use embedded id3 tags instead of Flac comments if this means anything. Thanks

flac-1.0.3_beta released
Which plugins do you mean? I thought I remember Winamp, for instance, being able to do word-length reduction on the fly. The only place I can find this feature is in the Monkey's Audio codec plugin, though. Anyway, great news Josh! Thanks for making 24-bit audio support in FLAC a priority. :) MW On Tue, 11 Jun 2002, Josh Coalson wrote: > --- Mike Wren <mikew@etree.org>

any simple command-line unix flac players?
For my MP3 files on my FreeBSD box, I can type mpg123 to play them. For WAV files, I can use wavplay, but it can't take stdin. Does FLAC have a simple command-line player for Linux/BSD anywhere?

Re: Converting an mp3stream from shoutcast to an ogg stream on icecast on the fly - is this possible?

If you install the jackified version of ices (http://mediacast1.com/~karl), you could play the mp3 stream in a jack-capable player (e.g. alsaplayer command line version?), then set the output to that to feed into the input of ices. Or you could try playing the stream with mpg123 -s http://url, and pipe this into ices, set up to take pcm input from stdin. You might have to pipe through sox as well to get the format right for ices. -- http:...

CONSOLE/dsp and command line play of wave file
Is there a way to have asterisk setup in ALSA mode (which is working) but also be able to "play file.wav" and hear that also. CONSOLE/dsp is working. If I stop asterisk and "play file.wav" that works. But if asterisk is running I cannot also play a file.wav I am not actually doing them at the same time. Just a couple files here and there to play. But as is I have to stop

Question about Ogg files Structure
Hi, I bought an iRiver HP-120 which can read ogg files (via a hard drive). Many people experiment that reading ogg file decrease the baterry charge more quickly than with mp3 at the same bitrate. The only raisonnable reason of that mysterious thing is that reading ogg file is not sequential onto hard drive, and the hard drive head must move more than for reading an mp3 at the same quality, and

Any reliable command line clients?
...es it just gets stuck on a short clip of sound over and over again for a long period of time. Not good either. mpg123 does support listener authentication. It might be my only option, but I haven't yet tried it for an extended period of time. What are others using? I briefly tried to get alsaplayer working in text mode unsuccessfully, but if anyone recommends it I'll give it a shot. Thanks, Joel

Sound Problems with Wine and ALSA
I've been trying to fix this for a couple of weeks now without any luck. I'm hoping someone here can offer some help. I Replaced my mainboard and CPU about a month ago. The new board has on-board sound as did my old mainboard, but the new board uses an Intel8x0 sound chip, the old board had a Yamaha YMFPCI chipset. Because of the difference in sound systems I needed to rebuild the
