Re: [R] Problem Compiling R-2.0.0 on Linux Alpha
Thanks, Prof. Ripley. I downloaded the new admin.R and used that in
place of one in R-2.0.0 build directory. The compile went fine. So,
for the record, R-2.0.0 + Prof. Ripley's fixed admin.R compiles fine on
"alphapca56-unknown-linux-gnu".

Problem Compiling R-2.0.0 on Linux Alpha
Hi folks:
I'm trying to compile R-2.0.0 on my Alpha (164SX;

"configure" options and R CMD INSTALL
...package 'rimage'
** Removing '/usr/local/R-1.8.0/lib/R/library/rimage'
I separately compiled and installed fftw-3.0.1. The problem seems to be that
I need to provide "--with-fftw-lib" option to the configure script. How do I
do this?

upgrading to 1.5.0/uninstalling 1.4.1 on Linux
...ile and install some additional packages

I want to upgrade to 1.5.0 now (it is being built now). Do I need to
uninstall 1.4.1 before I "make install" 1.5.0? If yes, how exactly?
Thanks.

R-1.1.0 on Alpha?
Has anyone succeeded in compiling R-1.1.0 on a Digital (Compaq) Alpha
running OSF4.0F (or E)? Everything seems to compile OK (except the
frequent "Warning: Unresolved:" at link time - this threw me off the
scent for a while!), but then at run time I get:
Fatal error: The X11 shared library could not be loaded.
The error was dlopen: cannot load

Compiling R on an Alpha
Sorry to be such a nuisance but after asking for help with compiling
R-1.1.0 on an Intel-based machine I now have another problem on the
Alpha DS-10 server which my students use.
Compilation and instalation proceed perfectly, but when I invoke R I
get:
[etdx01:bin]$ ./R
Fatal error: The X11 shared library could not be loaded.
The error was /home/etptupaf/R/lib/R/bin/R_X11.so: undefined
