About "tiger team" posts
...to that please realize that there are tons of legal implications of disclosing any holed found during penetration studies peformed by tiger teams. Bottom line: unless you can afford to hire several lawers you probably do not want to be in it. The topic of tiger teams was originally brought by Eric Allman. In his message he is talking about a group of people that would be willing to go through sendmail source code. If those of you who submitted your requests of joining the group were refering to that particular activity you should contact Eric Allman directly but please do not call yourself a tiger...

Google Developers Interview with me about Samba.
From the "Shameless-self-promotion" department :-). Here is an interview Cat Allman did with me about the Samba project : https://developers.google.com/live/shows/6737128306245632 It's too basic for these lists, but I thought you might find it interesting (or at least not too spammy :-). Feel free to forward to anyone who might be interested in Samba but not currently worki...

Forming a Linux tiger team.
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- In a recent message on this list someone proposed the idea of forming a linux tiger team. I am interested in forming a team like this. Are there any other interested people? [mod: "someone" is Eric Allman. He was talking about a sendmail-tiger-team, but as we are on the linux-security list right now, a linux-tiger-team is the obvious move.... Michael Denton (phantom@Dixie.EbiCom.net) is "in". I wouldn''t mind being a "coach" for the team. -- REW] - -- Douglas F. Elznic...

IVT SCD support status
Rainer, Arjen I was wandering around the code, and found that few things are missing around the IVT code: - no manpage, - no entry in driver.list - no device{mfr, model, type} in the code. I was about to submit a patch to address the above (ready to commit), but wanted first to get an update on the status. looking at the last thread, it's a bit unclear... I'm also interested an upsc

disconnect after too many errors?
There are a couple of jerks that are tying to dictionary attack my email server, and one of the vectors is pop3/imap logins. Something I would like to do in dovecot, but can't seem to find, is the ability to disconnect after a certain number of errors. The vast majority of my users (i.e. me) don't hand-type POP3 or IMAP transactions, but when we do, we know how to spell things

i915 DRM enabled in X.org log but not in glxinfo
Hi, Just to say that this report may well seem a little sparse, but I really don't know what exactly to look for so if anybody needs extra information just shout and I will get it for you ASAP. When I check the X.org log file, it says direct rendering: enabled on my graphics device (it attaches its i810 driver to the kernel's i915 DRM device). This would appear to me to suggest that

ID3-style information
I have a CD collection of about 20 discs that I currently archive on my hard disk in MP3 format. No, I do not like lossy compression. No, I do not like closed standards. No, I do not like software patents (Fraunhofer). In fact, I do not even need compression at this point, as my hard disk capacity is greater than the sum total of the CDs' WAV-format sizes. However, I need its ID3

program xxx is not vulnerable.
Sometimes linux-security gets a message stating that program xxx might be vulnerable to an yyy-attack (*). Sometimes people follow up stating that they couldn''t find an exploit. If I ask the test-squad to test some know-to-work exploit, I get about a 50/50 response. Half couldn''t get the published exploit to work. I''ve learned to interpret "nope it doesn''t

Postfix vs Sendmail
I have two CentOS-6.4 servers, in different places. I am running postfix/amavis on one, and sendmail/procmail on the other. I don't recall having any difficulty setting up sendmail many years ago using sendmail.mc . But I found postfix very complicated to setup last year. (It's working fine now.) I recall that when I asked for advice one person advised me to read 2 books on postfix, and

PAM, keyboard interactive, pam-1@ssh.com, interoperability
I have a simple goal: to use PAM to do my TIS authsrv authentications. I have Mark Roth's pam_authsrv module -- it works fine. + I can configure openssh for PAM, and it works fine (negotiating ssh2 keyboard interactive auth method). + I can configure ssh.com-3.0.1 for PAM, and it also works fine (negotiating ssh2 pam-1 at ssh.com auth method). Unfortunately, the openssh client

regarding ssl certificates
Is there some reason to use a mail.domain.com cert for mail rarher than just using domain.com for everything? Historically the subdomain were used because they were on different hardware. That is www was on one machine and mail was on another. ? Original Message ? From: dovecot at dovecot.org Sent: March 14, 2019 3:56 PM To: dovecot at dovecot.org Reply-to: jtam.home at gmail.com
