multi-page printing moving on
I have some nice forms done using stylesheets. I currently have them
displaying on screen and the user could simply just print.
This works when there is only one form (facility) to be viewed/printed.
I have created the looping code necessary to print for all facilities
but that doesn''t work for me because each page uses stylesheets with
<div> that do absolute positioning and thus

Beauty in Page Layout
Hi Railers,
I have a model with many associations (20+). I would like to display the
relative associations using AJAX, allowing the user to display the
association his/her is interesting at a particular time. Is there any
existing applications or sample code that I can look at to accomplish the
task?
Present I have one long page, with master (displaying current record
information) and many

DOCTYPE declaration:
I am playing around with the Agile Rails development book again and
thought to see what effect, if any, placing a doctype declaration
at the top of an rhtml file would have. When I insert any of the
three standard forms of such declaration at the top of
app/views/store.rhtml the product image disappears when the web
page is redisplayed. The error logged in log/development.log is:

PNG and Alpha-Transparency
Is there a prototype / extension which will assist in cross-browser support
of PNG images?
http://www.alistapart.com/articles/pngopacity/
It seems to me that a class could be developed which would zip through the
DOM and make changes where needed for IE 5.5 / IE 6.0 to handle PNG images.
I don''t want to write one if it''s been done before.

Change stylesheets asynchronously
I have my default "scaffold.css" that loads when the page loads, however
I would like to be able to dynamically change the CSS sheet by clicking
a link. I tried wrapping the stylesheet like below:
<head>
<div id="css-theme">
<link rel="stylesheet" href="/stylesheets/scaffold.css"
type="text/css" media="screen"

Nice UI Tabs - based on a click
Hi:
I have a piece of UI, basically tabs. The number of tabs will be
variable. the tab itself will contain fields that will change
depending on the tab (pretty standard). The UI could be Ajax-like, or
just nice scriptaculous, or whatever works. Can someone point me in
the right direction? Also, I''m a newbie, so simple is better, although
of course I''m willing to figure

Stop browser from "form filling" fields.
Hi all,
I have a user login form which the browser keeps populating because of
its form fill feature. So when anyone goes to log in it shows the
previous login''s username and password. How can I stop the browser
from populating a text field?
Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Diego

Tools for converting markdown to other formats with templating support
Hi all,
I'm new to the list but I've been using markdown for a while and I wonder if it might make the things I've been doing recently easier if I could find a tool that does what I need.
Essentially, I've been writing a lot of technical proposals of late (mostly using google docs), but I'd like to switch to writing them in Markdown (which handily means I can track revisions

[OT] Tables VS divs for form layout.
I''ve been using tables to get my forms to line up. ( I have usually one
column for labels, and a column for values ). Should I be using divs
instead? I''ve been reading some CSS design books lately. They tend to
recommend divs over tables for general page layout stuff. But, what about
the forms elements? What''s the ''best practice'' in this regard?

DESIGN question: We do not need damned publishers
Here is the actual design of my CMS :
each Item is secured by 3 (+1) elements:
readers group
writers group
publishers group
owner
readers = people who can find the item in the database and .... read it.
writers = people who can add new content (create new versions or
sub-pages) without making their changes visible (they can propose
content).
publishers = people who can change what readers

OT: finding a designer (bit of a rant)
I''ve written my app already. It outputs valid xhtml and I need a stylesheet
to drop over the top. How hard is it for people to understand that?
It''s a small project, they''d have to do the main design/layout, and then a
little custom styling for some specific elements which don''t appear on every
page. That''s the point of CSS right? write once, use

Element.observe () binding
Hey all,
I working on a project, but I am not sure I can do what I want to
do. The following works beautifully:
Event.observe(el, ''click'', function () { this.className += "
myClass"; return false; });
I have also tried doing this:
this.varname = ''test'';
Event.observe(el, ''click'', function () { alert (this.varname); }.bind

bundled_resource v.0.9
Original announcement at http://blog.inquirylabs.com/ [1]
== What is bundled_resource? ==
If your development is in any way similar to mine, there are a number
of useful resources out there that make web applications shine
beautifully. For example, there?s the Dynarch calendar and the
textarea tools. There are a number of others?too many, in fact. The
problem is that as a web developer,
