sizeof(char)
...noticed something that startled
me a bit. The configure script actually checks what sizeof(char) is,
and defines.h relies on this information.
This is completely unnecessary. By definition, sizeof(char) is always
1. This is not a matter of opinion; the C standard explicitly states,
in ?6.5.3.4 alinea 3,
When applied to an operand that has type char, unsigned char, or
signed char, (or a qualified version thereof) the result is 1.
On the other hand, unlike other basic integer types, the signedness of
char is implementation-defined; see ?6.2.5 alinea 15 and footnote 35.

Xen bug reports for Xen 4.1 and 4.4 (or even Xen 3.2)
Hi list,
I'm planning to start responding to all bts bugs that we have that are
related to Xen versions before Stretch. There's quite a few of those.
If they're clearly a question about the packaging, like #862408, then I
will skip those for now. But stuff like problems with upstream code or
"I cannot boot my Windows ISO with qemu on lenny" (I just made that up
as example)

A bit more then a curiosity.
Mobing from Samba/NT to Samba/AD i'm now switching some 'one-purpose'
(mostly containers) from libpam-ldaps to libpam-krb5.
In these box normally i don't need user access, so i create 'manually'
(eg, in /etc/passwd) only the admin users, and i add only the PAM layer
to do external auth.
Still i use ssh keys for direct root access, but as an
