delete-delay vs. delete-after in 3.0.2 (and possible bug)
...iced today, that --delete-delay introduced in 3.0.2 is not functionally equivalent of --delete-after (I was under impression it should work this way). Looking at following example: /src /src/testfile /src/.rf /dst /dst/testfile .rf consists of following lines: S, .rf H, * P, testfile rsync -aHx --delete-after --filter="dir-merge, .rf" /src/ /dst/ ...will execute properly - which means that already existing testfile in /dst will not be removed. But if I execute: rsync -aHx --delete-delay --filter="dir-merge, .rf" /src/ /dst/ ...testfile will be removed, unless .rf...

Cloning CentOS workstations
...uot; to do this, but it can take a while since it blanks each partition before copying, and requires a system shutdown. Question 1: Would it be sufficient to simply use CloneZilla once to initialize the backup drive (or do it manually, but CloneZilla makes it easy-peasy), and then use "rsync -aHx --delete" (let me know if I missed an important rsync option) to update the clone partitions from then on? I am assuming that the MBR typically doesn't get rewritten during system updates, though "/etc/grub.conf" obviously does get changed. Suppose I want to store more than one...

DO NOT REPLY [Bug 6095] New: code 23 when files or directories disappear, instead of code 24.
...ode had changed - until a run earlier this week gave me the previously expected code 24. Google has a number of postings for rsync code 23, all but one were from 3.0.4, the other was from 3.0.2. Most of them are just logs. Yesterday, I updated to 3.0.5 on x86 and tested. The command is rsync -aHx --delete --numeric-ids /home /nfs/staging/ . By untarring a package, starting the wrapper, then deleting the package 2 or 3 seconds later, I got: Thu Feb 5 22:35:23 GMT 2009 rsyncing rsync: link_stat "/home/ken/abiword-extras-2.6.6" failed: No such file or directory (2) IO error encount...

Fwd: Making rsync compile under Mac OS X 10.3.9 with extended attributes
...ith- flags","com.apple.FinderInfo") failed: Unknown error: -5000 (-5000) And error -5000 means: afpAccessDenied -5000 User does not have the correct access to the file Directory cannot be shared Available in Mac OS X v10.0 and later. In another hand, if I run rsync with options: -aHXN --fileflags -> error -aHN --fileflags -> no error -aHX -> no error -aHXN -> no error So it's seems that there is a conflict between fileflags and my patch. I guess that both are trying to set things on the same file at the (almost) same time and one is blocking the other to do...
