...orks.com/access/helpdesk/help/techdoc/visualize/cbar.gif
The key features I am looking for is surfaced with grid and color, but
not the terrain-like gradient. but I didn't come even close to it
after browsing through rgl help file.
have anyone drawn something like this before, is this doable afterall?
thanks

Dead horse: validates_associated
...c.valid? (True!?! -- shouldn''t be!)
So, how can one protect for the case where the associated link doesn''t
refer to an existing database row at all?
Can someone give me an example of a successful use of
validates_associated that is NOT coupled to validates_presence_of?
Afterall, it seems quite pointless to have validates_associated if it
returns true for an object that isn''t even in the database.

anyone running with Horde mail?
Hey again folks ;-)
Seems my auth is working afterall when I telnet to the IMAP port.
But darned if I can get it working with Horde web mail. Is anyone out
there doing this just first of all to confirm to me that the
combination works OK.
I don't care so much about shadow auth since apparantly my pam auth is
working just fine.
thanks,

Rails Documentation is RoR''s achilles heel
...m the cycle these languages or vendors went
through.
For Ruby and RoR''s corporate level adoption its pertinent that enough time
is devoted to documentation. Towards this goal I would like everybody to
come forward and share their ideas and experiences towards improving the
documentation. Afterall we can''t just be complaining all the time, its open
source for a reason.
So everybody please come forward and contribute to this thread and help RoR
getting rid of the documentation problem

strange way of forwarding to another stream.
...ow in use by anything, if so what? And how is it
implemented?
This seems like a very useful thing to be included in a spec. And it
doesn't seem unreasonable to include it in a client, except that there
is no official spec that stream client developers use to develop against
(or is there??). Afterall, Things like HTML Redirect's are handled by
the client.

Audio Performance on solo instruments
...yone has performed any listening tests or
done work with solo instrument performances with the CELT codec?
I experience quite a bit of noise coming up with a heavily tonal stimulus,
the worst offender being a trumpet. I understand some of this behavior is to
be expected, this is a perceptual codec afterall, but was curious if anyone
was able to find an elegant solution. (Jean-Marc: This may also be a good
test file to throw into your routine listening)
I know I am pushing the codec to its limits a bit: fixed point math, small
frame size (100 samples on v0.7.1, 120 samples on v0.11.1) and a bitrate...

floating point
...rts up to 32bit integer.
So my question is, what would be the best way, or what is a common way to FLAC-encode floating point audio?
The first idea is obvious, we have a 32bit float, FLAC supports 32bit integer, and it's lossless. So I'd just make it encode 32bit float, it's lossless afterall.
2 problems, first I would suspect it wouldn't encode very well, since the data wouldn't be "audio" anymore, right? It would be like trying to FLAC-encode random data.
So I tried FLACing white noise, and comp ratio was pretty poor, confirming this. Interestingly, it still did a...

/etc/passwd
I would like to write up brief tutorial/documentation on how to manage /etc/passwd using puppet.
While this may seem pretty straight forward to some...the documentation is not.
We have been able to create a manifest that defines all of our users "virtually" and are able to "realize" users and add them to the system(s) running puppetd.
Is there a way to simply realize all users

So on with the meat of things.
I can use tools on the Fedora 22 build to do an initial build and then
copy them to the Centos/Redsleeve builds (which will not have a GUI
desktop). With Fedora I am using Xfce (this IS arm afterall).
Is there a more recent set of instructions with such things as IPv6 support?
Should I go with the rpm distributions or sernet? Will sernet build on

ssm vs. lvm: moving physical drives and volume group to another system
When I change /etc/fstab from /dev/mapper/lvol001 to
/dev/lvm_pool/lvol001, kernel 3.10.0-514 will boot.
Kernel 3.10.0-862 hangs and will not boot.

GPO redirected folders reg path issue
...gain. -just wanted to add the story in case it helps
anyone following along. Personally, I'm always trying to steer away from
RSAT and administering anything from windows as a whole and would much
rather use samba-tool so I'm not reliant on a desktop but hey,,, it is a
windows based network afterall.
So now that the dust has settled (the whole ordeal was less than 15 minutes
so no big deal) I'm not seeing anything spectacularly different but it will
be interesting to see if I ever the issue stated in the original msg of
this thread.

1 BDC per 50 Clients? Can that really be true? (HOWTO)
...to add
19 more servers to a domain that is currently served by one box in order
to "do things right." It seems to me that this quote must simply must be
a typo, or that it's somehow horribly out of context (the example is
discussing a multi-office configuration with a 15Mb uplink afterall), as
it is completely inconsistent with what I've seen myself or read
elsewhere.
We currently have 400 lab machines as domain members, plus another 500
or so non-domain windows clients (used by office personnel) with up to
250 of those total clients using the server simultaneously (we use...

RFC: Absolute or "fixed address" symbols as immediate operands
...possibly aliased. However, I don’t understand how this works in practice today for aliases. By their very name, they are *all about* introducing aliases, so how is AA allowed to assume that two external global variable references are unaliased anyway? One may be resolved as an alias to the other afterall, completely independent of your proposal.
