CRAN down ?
There seems to be another outage of the Vienna CRAN server [1] though from
what I can from afar not related to DNS outage [2].
Could anyone confirm and possibly alert the local team in Vienna?

Remote Desktop Recommendations (2)
...sktop on a Centos 7 server
from a Windows client. I have tried:
- X2go from EPEL (fails immediately, apparently they are working on a
solution, but...)
- Freenx (doesn't exist for EL7)
Both the above work fine with Centos 6.
I'm looking for a solution that works over the internet from
afar. My earlier posting failed to mention this.
Are there any known working solutions?
Thanks...

[LLVMdev] nsw/nuw for trunc
...use of the
truncation, which could be valuable information for the programmer. Also,
adding such a flag would likely not hurt the compiler, would it?
Btw I think it's quite similar to the addition of nsw/nuw to shl, with the
exception that that one actually allows some new optimizations, as afar as I
know.

That's certainly possible, but I guess it's even harder to push such a change
into clang, than it is to push the additional of a flag for an instruction,
which can be...

Dangling debug value or bug in argument elimination pass?
I will start from afar… When a dead function argument is removed, should we keep around the debug info for it?
I have the following case:

entry:
call void @llvm.dbg.value(metabb i8* %aa, i64 0, metabb !34,...

Duncan's point is that this is totally different from the semantics of
nsw/nuw on other instructions, which

[LLVMdev] Removal of IA-64 target
...par, but know that
it's also a lot of work and maintaining FreeBSD/ia64 already
eats its share of resources. As such, I'm not at all in the
position to object to the removal -- LLVM wasn't built with
(false) promises or (good) intentions.
However ... (didn't we see that coming from afar :-)
What I'll do right now is update, built and run tests. LLVM
built on FreeBSD/ia64 last week, so that much I know. I'll
look into the test results to see how bad it is. In the mean
time I hope that there's a way for me to put my money where
my mouth is and come to some arrangement a...

[LLVMdev] Removal of IA-64 target
Hello,
LLVM's IA-64 target has not been maintained for a few years, and it is
currently unable to compile many simple testcases. I'm planning to
remove it from the tree soon, unless someone objects.

Primard Domain Controller feature not working
Hey guys,
I configured Samba do be the domain controller for my network and to
share folders. the folder sharing works great. The problem is that
the domain function does not work at all. I cannot join the domain
from any workstation. It just says that the controller cannot be
contacted. I ran an Ethereal sniff on the packets and the computer
that i want to be PDC is sending ICMP Destination

Samba newbie question...
Can Samba be used as a complete replacement for a Windows 2000 Active Directory server? I have some vague notion that this can be accomplished by using a combination of OpenLDAP, Samba, MIT Kerberos, and the OpenAFS file system. To say the least, the descriptions I have found have been vague as to whether or not I will be able to completely replace the functionality of an Active Directory server

Problem with ZFS and ACL with GDM
I am the maintainer of GDM, and I am noticing that GDM has a problem when
running on a ZFS filesystem, as with Indiana.
When GDM (the GNOME Display Manager) starts the login GUI, it runs the
following commands on Solaris:
/usr/bin/setfacl -m user:gdm:rwx,mask:rwx /dev/audio
/usr/bin/setfacl -m user:gdm:rwx,mask:rwx /dev/audioctl
It does this because the login GUI programs are run as the
