new mailing list - advocacy@xiph.org
We've had a few requests for a place where advocacy efforts can be
discussed.
I've created a new mailing list, advocacy@xiph.org. This is going to be
a place where we:
- discuss adoption strategies
- coordinate vendor support requests
- help coordinate promotion activity
I encourage everyone who is interested in promoting, advocating and
evangelizing Vorbis, Icecast and other Xiph.org

Re: [advocacy] Ogg & Ogg Vorbis _unofficial_ logos page.
Done,
anybody can send me his logo and I promise to publish it on my page
without any previous censorship.
Thanks.
P.S. I used OpenOffice Draw because Sodipodi does no yet support grids
which I need badly for my designs (I have some AutoCAD backgroup and I
am a very technical guy, apart from that I love Sodipodi and in fact the
SVG on my site has been retouched with it).

You will find that most people have a reason to do what they do -- it
doesn't mean it's a good one.

Support .cda as input files
Hi again list,
I have given the matter of supporting .cda as input format some more
thought. What I wanted was an easier way to do drag 'n' drop music files
from CDs onto the local system and then have those files encoded with FLAC.
As of now most operating systems displays files on CDs as .cda. (Which has
later been clarified not to even be a format.)
I think that what I actually

Re: [advocacy] current tshirt/slogan submissions
Two notes on my T-shirt design...
Had I known there was an official logo/font for the Ogg Vorbis and Xiph I
would have used it. Sorry if this causes any problems. :o)
#ifdef Stand_on_SoapBox
As for the phenomenon vs. standard I think I may want to explain. It seems
that whenever the media reports on Ogg (or ANY open source project for that
matter) they often use the word phenomenon to

advocacy and added options to ogg123
Hey all. Two topics:
First, I teach Computer Science at the high school level at a largish school
near Austin, Texas. For the past several years there's been a "jukebox" in
my room where students could vote for albums to hear during programming lab
time, and random tracks off the winning albums play over the speakers in the
classroom.

New around - some questions (Cortado, editing Theora)
Hello,
I am maintaining different resources related to Ogg Theora, both as a
user and as a contributor to several local advocacy groups.
I had a couple of questions:
- Who should I ask / talk to about financing improvements to the Cortado
applet (namely: bigger / more visible controls for the seek functions) ?
- Are there any simple Ogg Theora editing tools or applications, similar
to avidemux

Agent 4.0 and wine
I have been running Agent3.3 uner Linux debian sarge, wine
0.0.20050310-1.2, fake windows partition. Absolutely no problems, even
when tackling large groups like binaries or advocacy.
But the upgrade to V4 did not go well. I went back to 3.3 and managed
to reproduce under reduced conditions:
* Created a new, vanilla user called gorby
* Created a new fake windows setup with a vanilla

[LLVMdev] glasgow haskell appears to be adopting LLVM
everyone--
File this under Advocacy.
See this thread <http://www.haskell.org/pipermail/glasgow-haskell-users/2010-February/018425.html> for more information, but the short summary is that they're deprecating their old "compile to GCC" backend in favor of David Terei's new LLVM backend. They're still planning for their C-- backend to be the primary backend for native
