Usually, long periods of digital silence. Doesn't happen if you have
reencoding on.

Icecast in Macromedia Flash
Sorry,
I forgot to provide the URL: http://macsym.free.fr/player
So we are searching for somebody running Windows with Internet Explorer 5 or
5.5. Just click the link above and tell us if you can hear the music or not.
If you see kilobytes are loaded but no stream is played, wait few seconds.
To check your IE version, go in Help->About Microsoft Explorer.
Thank you VERY MUCH in advance,

There are a solution ?
( as per my message on this one ) ,
if you wait until release 2.1 in a month or so, this feature will be built
it . otherwise , you'll have to research cvs and adding patches , and do
all this yourself .. .

Icecast in Macromedia Flash
No audio with IE 5.5 SP2 on Windows 2k. Sorry for the bad news.
But why? Maybe it's a cross-site-error so that IE blocks access to a
different server for security-reasons? Could you please put the
player under the web-root of your icecast2-server and give us the
links? Maybe that helps - cause then the audio is coming from the
same URL.

Icecast in Macromedia Flash
Hi,
Is there anybody running Internet Explorer 5 on Windows? Since v5 works on
MAC but v6 doesn't work on Windows, it would be very useful to know if the
flash player works with Internet Explorer 5 on Windows.
Lots of thanks in advance,
MAX

CVS changes
To all CVS users of ices 0.x:
I've just merged the ices-libshout_2 branch onto HEAD. Anyone using that branch
should switch back to HEAD to continue to get the latest updates.
This also means you now need the latest version of libshout2 from CVS in order
to build ices from CVS.

No. Without re-encoding, resource usage is very very low.

For your "non-technical" listeners, both WinAmp 2 and 3 support OGG. And it's
free, as I'm sure you know.
Challenge them to listen to the difference too. Once they hear how much
better OGG sounds at the lower bitrates, I'm sure they won't mind switching
over.
And you might as well try to force their hands away from Micro$oft's Windows
Media Player, if

i've g0t this working ,, but only w/ .ogg . does ices not support .mp3 for
the playlist ?
_ i even made a separate .xml for when .mp3 archives come up , and i've
tried /64kbpsR AND /64kbpsR.mp3 as mountpoints . ,
all my archives from before December are mp3 ! gh .,

Hi Adon,
The database is also a nice idea, I didn't think about it. Just one
suggestion, you could maybe run the script that updates the metadata to the
DB on the ENCODER computer. It might reduce the delay...

Icecast in Macromedia Flash
Hi Stephan,
Thanks for reporting. Now we know it doesn't work on IE 5.5/Windows (but it
works on IE5.2 on MAC). You had nice idea to store the file on the icecast2
root. Unfortunately, I already tried it few days ago and it didn't work
either...
Cheers,
MAX
