Samba vs Windows server 2019
For the moment, Samba4 cannot participate as DC with Windows 2019
servers (unless you downgrade to schema 47, the one that comes with
Windows 2008R2):
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/AD_Schema_Version_Support
The developers are working on Windows 2012R2 support. So for now,
anything above 2008R2 is experimental.

Lowest functional level 2000 (4.6.4)
Unfortunately its an old setup that I’ve inherited from someone else.
From what i understand there was originally a windows sbs server and this samba dc has replaced that. It was done when samba 4 was in early beta.
Thanks for the link i found that thread but as you say it doesn’t help.
Failing any kind of fix is there a way to import users/computers into a fresh database?

ad2003 schema while forest/domain at 2008R2 level
Hi everyone,
I came across this issue today while upgrading a samba4 AD. The
forest/domain level is 2008R2, however the schema partition is actually
missing the msDS-isRODC attribute (and probably a few others). It makes
the ADUC console to failed on that entry below. Here is the samba log
message (which is quite explicit :-)

I read the documentation that specifies which version of Samba is
compatible with the version of the Active Directory schema:
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/AD_Schema_Version_Support
I was able to check on the Windows 2012-R2 server that the Active
Directory schema is in version 69, so theoretically compatible with
Samba 4.7.
User "MYDOMAIN\marcori" is a domain admin.
Do you have a way to explore further?

Possible problems with AD Schema in Samba 4
...presa,dc=com,dc=br' -s base objectVersion
# record 1
dn: CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,DC=empresa,DC=com,DC=br

# returned 1 records

I believe that the problem is related as the Samba 4 works with AD Schema,
as found at: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/AD_Schema_Version_Support
Would anyone have an idea how to solve this problem?

Setup a Samba AD DC as an additional DC
Hai Barry,
We know about exchange might be a problem, the others i dont know..
Check the windows schema levels.
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/AD_Schema_Version_Support
You could try a clean setup as shown by my howto.
Before you install setup ip and hostname in the windows DNS for the linux server.
Make sure you use a name thats never used before, just to be sure of no side effects.
Then follow this to the letter. ( so use bind9_dlz )

You could start by finding out just what schema version you actually
have, see here:

Lowest functional level 2000 (4.6.4)
...se?
Not sure if there is anything to dump the database, it would probably
need something like the classicupgrade tool that is used to upgrade an
NT4 domain.
You may be able to work around this, it all depends on what schema
version you have, see here to find out:
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/AD_Schema_Version_Support
If you have schema version 47, then it may just be a case of
adding/changing a few attributes (I don't know which) and then running
samba_upgradedns and then tidying AD.
Of course this is very simplistic and may not work, I think somebody
like Andrew needs to jump in here, he definitely knows...

No, '47' is 2008R2, see here:

Migrating from NT PDC SV 88 to Samba PDC
...P; samba added that).
So, if you have to migrate a (set of) NT domain(s) to samba, something can
be done.
If you have an AD domain on schema 88 and need to migrate to samba, i think
you need first to 'downgrade' the schema to a samba supported schemas:
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/AD_Schema_Version_Support
and i think there's no way to downgrade schema...

It is all down to the schema version support, Samba supports version 47
and experimentally version 69, more info here:

Migrating from NT PDC SV 88 to Samba PDC
Hello,
We need to migrate our AD from NT PDC Schema Version 88 to Samba PDC, but we can't join our Samba to NT PDC or migrate SID History and Account Passwords to Samba PDC.
Our company is over 3000 NT Servers and over 5000 Users and we need to migrate to Samba without Servers rejoin and Passwords reset, but it's very important for as to migrate.
Is it possible that there will be
