Latex no where to be seen
.... The package installer can't find it. Where is it?
It amazes me that there's not a built in "report" function that can produce
the same kinds of reports that every report writer and data analysis
software in the whole word can do. (see SAS, Crystal Reports, SPSS, Oracle
Reports, Actuate, Hyperion, Cognos, ..etc)

Fukuoka Ruby Award--about $10,000 for first prize
I am working with the Government of Fukuoka, Japan to get the word out
about the Fukuoka Ruby Award to Ruby developers in the US. It is free
to apply for this award. The top prize is about $10,000. Deadline is
December 25, so there is not much time, but the application is fairly
simple for developers who have existing projects. Here are the
details:

SV: I can hear only one way when I use nokia e-60withX-lite
...risk server, to get it to work.
That means, that you cant just walk down to your local airport, and use the IP part of the phone on their network.
You have to have a non nat local server, to get it to run.
Other than that, the phone can accept calls both from cellular network and IP network, and actuatly works quite well, both for cellular and IP traffic.
But you cant do seamless handover, for example when you walk out of the building. You have two different numbers, your mobile number and your IP number
And these cant automaticly be transferred.
Hope this answeres your question

R as controller
...ll,
this may be a 'stupid' question, but it would be great if it exists. What's it about? For the control of experiments, special (and expensive) software is often necessary. The main 'difficulty' I have is to read data from different (measurement) devices and send them to some actuators (reading from a serial device and the protocols). Is there a package in R for reading and writing to a serial port, including the protocols for ADAM modules etc? Or is there anyone having plans to program such a package? If it would exist, R could be as a controller, which would make life much e...

Fax Configuration
What is the best way for me to setup Fax Capability with VOIP only.
I have a Asterisk Server hosted on the internet without a modem. I'm
using Flowroute, which is working awesome, for VOIP calls.
I only have a SIP Phone at home and two Printer/Scanner/Fax Printers.
I'm not sure which Fax Addons or Extensions I should use for Asterisk.
I'd like it to Self Detect on any line.

Force Feedback / Vibration
...e, but no vibration. Actually it works if I use fftest. Just not in wine.
I use Ubuntu 11.04, wine 1.3.28 (which is the most recent development version right now). The wheel is connected by USB. Wine also says something about it:
Code:
fixme:dinput:JoystickWImpl_SendForceFeedbackCommand No direct actuator control in linux
I found some things on the net, but they were older. I already tried overriding dinput.dll, didn't help me.
I have a Pentium 4 CPU (32bit), 4 GB's of RAM, an NVidia Graphics Card with 1 GB of Memory.
Is there any help for me or will I just have to play without FF?

Anyone seen this before?
I _did_ set max mux = 1, but then could'nt browse to it to try the
install . . . My next step is to set man mux = 1 again and try mounting the
install partition as a drive.

Possible Filesystem Corruption with Samba 3.0.25a (with XFS and LVM)

something to do with Samba, which at the time was actively dealing
with /storage. It was a conservative home machine, so I'm pretty
confident to rule out man-made timebombs.
Thank you in advance for any helpful replies!
Hopefully I/we can find the cause of this, because I'd take a dead
actuator any day over overwritten data -- easier to restore :)

Supported version of Samba for commercial use.

to get this done using a cron job but we would need to store the outputs
(daily) on some sort of shared area so they could be accessed by Pete/Jason
to move onto Plink folders, and also in the future by Actuate.
There will be obvious questions about archiving etc but for now we need to
know what's practical in terms of sharing a UNIX device so it could be
mapped to a PC like a network drive. The product that I've had mentioned to
me is Samba but I'm not sure how this works or whether it'...

System freeze if mount cifs share with option "hard", and samba server is not available
I know "hard" means command will hang if network is broken. But it seems that's not actuate. It's CPU that will hang.
Affected scope:
I tested it against CentOS 5/6/7, it can be reproduced on all the systems. the debug logs below are captured from CentOS 7 (cifs.ko v2.05)
How to reproduce this problem?
1. mount a cifs share with option "hard"
2. stop samba server

Dealing With Extremely Large Files
Hi,
I'm sure that a large fixed width file, such as 300 million rows and 1,000
columns, is too large for R to handle on a PC, but are there ways to deal
with it?
For example, is there a way to combine some sampling method with read.fwf so
that you can read in a sample of 100,000 records, for example?
Something like this may make analysis possible.
Once analyzed, is there a way to, say, read

Workshop on Internet of Things ? IoT
Internet of Things (IoT) only take off if combined with cloud computing and with a big ?mountain? of sensors and actuators embedded in the environment able to collect, monitor and transfer data from real objects to databases or caches and vice-versa. This huge quantity of information generated by sensors, or targeted at actuators, should be streamed to any number of devices and services just in time. This means that...
