[RFC GIT PATCHES] acpioff: COM32 module to shut off machine using ACPI
Hi all, I have written a COM32 module called "acpioff", that, not surprisingly, powers off a machine using ACPI. I have tested it only using pxelinux.0 with a SeaBIOS/Qemu virtual machine. Since the changeset pulls in a "Linux-ized" version of the open source ACPI Component Architecture, it was too big to post as a patches to the list. See the git pull-request output below.

Xen hypervisor failed to startup when booting CPUs
Hi Folks: I run into a problem when enabling Xen in next generation server platforms with Xen c/s is 21380. Xen reported "CPU Not responding" when booting up 32 CPUs( 2 sockets with 8 cores/16threads total). The log files belonging showed something wrong with APCI. So I added x2apic=0 in the xen grub line, but the symptom remained. However, Native RHEL5.5 can

kworker 100% of single core on mulit-core processor usage inquiry
Greetings everyone. I am experiencing the kworker issue where a kworker is using 100% of a given core. This behavior was only observed after having installed a new water cooler, to replace a cooler that had died. (Sealed closed loop device from Corsair) The processor is staying around 40 degrees celsius as reported by the MB UEFI interface. (ksysguard shows between 29 degrees and 30 degrees,

ACPI errors during bootup
Hi, Am trying to build SMP kernel. Took kernel-2.6.18-194.src.rpm, extracted, rpmbuilded with SMP option. Successfully compile the new kernel and when using that kernel to boot up, following errors were shown up(highlighted in bold & red color): My kernel config file has ACPI and PCI configs enabled. Any pointers to what caused the problem are appreciated. ******************************

Centos 7 kworker uses 100% of single core on mulit-core processor usage inquiry
Greetings again everyone. Can someone please respond to this? I am not sure what is causing this issue, however, others seem to have experienced it in the past. Could this be caused by the processor being damaged? Nothing has changed on the system, except for the heat warning shutoff when the water cooler died, and the system was not restarted until the new one was installed. Any input

Uneven CPU speed with CentOS 4.4 on a Mac Pro
Hi list, I've recently managed to install CentOS 4.4 on an Apple Mac Pro. Functionality-wise everything works great, but when trying to benchmark the system, I don't get stable runtimes, they differ by more than 30%. For example a benchmark run with our PDE solving code takes between 500 and 800 s on the completely unloaded machine. Suspicious kernel output (complete output attached):

CentOS 4.2 hangs at power-on boot
I've just installed CentOS 4.2 on a brand-new PC. It appears to be working fine except for one thing: When the system is first powered on, the boot sequence hangs after Starting udev: Initializing hardware ... storage network audio If I then hit the reset button, it reboots and successfully proceeds. Looking at rc.sysinit and the output of kmodule, it would appear that the problem is
