Hi Rowland,
I see this in the ZFS props, if that’s related, you might be referring to something in ext3 that im not aware of at the moment.
pool/myshare aclinherit restricted default
pool/myshare acltype off default
So, if you heard that I was going to use ext3, that was only as a solution, and that over ext4 due personal preference, since I made a mistake once on a reboot during write and suffered bad data loss. I gave up on ext4, in favor of ext3 s...

samba on ZFS
I don't believe that ZFS on FreeBSD supports acltype=posixacl and sa-based
xattrs.
For the record, the latest version of samba that I've been successfully
able to compile on FreeBSD 10.3 is Samba 4.5.5.

Effect of setting "store dos attributes = no" in Samba 4.1.11

4.1.11
Let's assume that the original poster meant "store dos attributes" and
wants to use Windows-ACLs.
Try
zfs set xattr=sa $pool
zfs set atime=off $pool
And if you have ZFS version 0.6.3 try
zfs set acltype=posixacl $pool

Second AD DC = Samba 4.7.6-Ubuntu on Ubuntu 18.04 inside a privileged

The underlying file system is zfs-on-linux and in all cases I set the

All workstations on the network are successfully joined to AD.

deprecated and indeed removed from samba 4.5.
I found a page which said to set some zfs attributes:

If you want to see a working samba / zfs / FreeBSD AD / PDC "ecosystem" i recommend just trying and exploring the open FreeBSD based "FreeNAS" which offers / allows exactly this.

It turns out this came from running inside an unprivileged lxd
container. After setting "security.privileged true" it was happy.
So I guess

I'm trying to copy every file which belongs to my Ubuntu 23.04 installation

Finding performance bottlenecks
Hi,
So is the KVM or Vmware as the host(s)? I basically have the same setup ie
3 x 1TB "raid1" nodes and VMs, but 1gb networking. I do notice with vmware
using NFS disk was pretty slow (40% of a single disk) but this was over 1gb
networking which was clearly saturating. Hence I am moving to KVM to use
glusterfs hoping for better performance and bonding, it will be interesting

Finding performance bottlenecks
Hi
I'm trying to setup a 3 node gluster, and am hitting huge performance
bottlenecks.
The 3 servers are connected over 10GB and glusterfs is set to create a 3
node replica.
With a single VM performance was poor, but I could have lived with it.
I tried to stress it by putting copies of a bunch of VMs on the servers
and seeing what happened with parallel nodes.. network load never broke

[PATCH 0/3] generator: Allow returned strings to be annotated as devices.
If we want to permit more than 255 drives to be added, then we will
have to add the disks to the same virtio-scsi target using different
unit (LUN) numbers.
Unfortunately SCSI LUN enumeration in the Linux is not deterministic
(eg. two disks with target=0, lun=[0,1] can be enumerated as /dev/sda
or /dev/sdb randomly). Dealing with that will require some very
complex device name translation on the
