projecting GIS coordinates for analysis with spatstat package
I am working on creating an R package for doing fire department analysis and am trying to create a function that can display emergency incident densities. The following code sort of does the trick, but I need a display that shows the number of incidents per square mile. I believe the code below shows incidents per square unit (in this case, degrees lat/long). To solve this problem, I believe

Change Bit Value To Text When Viewed
Hey All, very simple question for you folks ;) I have a @commutes object that for each record there is a bit value set (0/1) to denote if an accident occurred. What I want to do is have it display "Yes" or "No" when I view the listing of commutes. I can get it to display the bit value just fine with <%= commute.accident %> but how can I get it so that when a record with

coding to generate a matrix to prepare for chi-sqr test f or text mining
I would compile a table of all the words in the dataset (maybe you have it already), then create a list where each component is an integer vector of indices of words. That is, replace words by their positions in the table. >From that sparse form you could create binary features to use with standard classification methods, or for example compute the X'X matrix for linear regression

OT: Polycom Firmware available (by accident?)
Not sure if Polycom is changing their policy or if this is an accident, but you can actually download SIP 3.1.1 right from their web site. Anyone looking for firmware should get it now before it disappears. SIP app and release notes can be found here: http://www.polycom.com/usa/en/support/voice/soundpoint_ip/soundpoint_ip450.html -Dave

unbalanced repeated measurements Anova with mixed effects
Dear R-list members, I've been struggling with the proper setup for analysing my data. I've performed a route choice experiment, in which participants had to make a choice at each junction for the next road. During the experiment they received traffic information, but also encountered two different accidents. They also made trips without accidents. What I'm interested in is to

[LLVMdev] Arguments to setLatencyPolicy calls swapped by accident in ConvergingScheduler::checkResourceLimits?
Hi, In ConvergingScheduler::checkResourceLimits on line 1535 of MachineScheduler.cpp setLatencyPolicy is called as follows: // Set ReduceLatency to true if needed. Bot.setLatencyPolicy(TopCand.Policy); Top.setLatencyPolicy(BotCand.Policy); So the Bot scheduling boundary is used to set the latency policy of the Top candidate and the other way around. I think this should be: //

accident modified dataset. How can I recovery it?!
I first try these command, it works quite well. library(lattice) data(cuckoos) levnam <- strsplit(levels(cuckoos$species), "\\.") BUT, i want to try : levnam <- strsplit(levels(cuckoos$species), ".") to see the difference. They maybe I modified the data file, because when I try again, it says: > data(cuckoos) Warning message: data set 'cuckoos' not found in:

how to divide data by week
Dear list users, I have a data frame as below specified. From the 1st of May to the 30th of September of several years (e.g. from 2004 to 2011) I have a frequency of accidents. I need the mean of accidents divided by weeks (i.e. the mean of accidents from the 1st to the 7th of May of all the years, from the 8th to the 14th of May, ..., from the 29th to the 31st of May, from the 1st to the 7th of

Accidentally removed glibc & glibc-devel :: Help
Hi, I attempted to ugprade glibc & glibc-devel and ended up removing them entirely by accident. *idiot* What are the steps needed to get glibc back onto my system. Absolutely nothing is working at the moment, rpm, yum, etc. I presume I'm going to have to boot from a rescue CD of some kind. If someone could outline how to do this, or point me to some docs I would be most grateful.

rsync stops/hangs (from windows to debian)
We've been using rsync to send updates to our webservers from a central location for years. All the webservers used to be Windows 2000 Server running rsync 2.6.3. Recently I've been trying to replace them with Debian servers with rsync 2.6.9. The central file server is a Windows 2000 Server using the cwRsync binary. It was also 2.6.3 until I upgraded it to use 2.6.9 also. The initial

chisq test and fisher exact test
Hi, I have a text mining project and currently I am working on feature generation/selection part. My plan is selecting a set of words or word combinations which have better discriminant capability than other words in telling the group id's (2 classes in this case) for a dataset which has 2,000,000 documents. One approach is using "contrast-set association rule mining" while the
