Anyone know of a good open-source PHP accellerator that works with CentOS 64-bit?
Can you recommend a PHP accellerator that works with my CentOS 4.2
64-bit version? If it's possible, I'd like to find one that is actively
updated.
Thanks,

3D accelleration and Intel 940/945GM/GMS/GML
Hi,
is there anyone here who succeed to run any 3D software at good speed
with such 3D hardware ?
On my side, 3D accelleration is ok with Xorg and pure linux game (xmoto
for example run really fine).
Is there anything to do with Wine to allow programs runs under it to
work as "native" Linux software ?
Have I miss something somewhere ? (I think of wine compilation and

[PATCH] More explicit error message when the kernel module has been configured 'noaccel' but the xorg configuration doesn't disable accelleration
I ran into this the other day - this more explicit error message might save someone some
head-scratching ;).

Gonna be stupid here...
But it''s early (for me), and I can''t remember the answer here.
I''m sizing an Oracle database appliance. I''d like to get one of the
F20 96GB flash accellerators to play with, but I can''t imagine I''d be
using the whole thing for ZIL. The DB is likely to be a couple TB in size.
Couple of questions:

Boot live usb without hard disk, could reduce performance?
This is my situation:
My internal hard disk is broken so I've removed it and thrown it off the window. [Laughing]
So I've installed Debian Live on my usb and next I've downloaded Wine from the repository suggested.
Then I've tried to run Carmageddon II and Soldat.
The setup for both goes ok and they starts good.
The problem is with the hardware accelleration. It's slow, really

Rotate/edge-flip and jumping mouse pointer
Hi,
I'm using running Xgl/compiz on Gentoo/AMD64/2006.0, with
xgl-0.0.1_p20060418 and compiz-quinnstorm-0.0.9.3 on Gnome 2.14.
I love the edge-flip feature of rotate, but I sometimes have a problem
where, after edge-flipping the mouse pointer seems to jump to the opposite
window edge which starts rotating the cube to the next desktop, so I start
moving the pointer back, whereupon it jumps

Xen as virtual KVM
I''m looking at doing something that may seem a little bit odd, I would like
to use xen to virtualize several desktop environments, with a specific
keystroke configured to switch to that environment.
I will have either gentoo or debian as a dom0. this will be used only for
management of the virtual machines.
I will have several full desktop environments for different users.
For example, I

Problems with OS X 10.11.5
I disabled client signing from the client side, via OS X's global nsmb.conf
file: https://discussions.apple.com/message/30282470#30282470
The performance was back to over 600 MB/s, as compared to 60 MB/s with
signing.
It just seems a bit weird to me that Apple, in response to the Badlock bug,
would have changed the OS X client default to something with such drastic
performance implications,

setting winecfg settings via shell?
Hello,
Is there a way to change the settings that are available in winecfg via the
shell in the latest wine versions? I would like to be able to automatically
change the audio hardware acceleration setting via a script.
Thanks.

Dir ec* returns dir name starting with letters EA... come again!?
I take it that this is a bug, maybe related to the fun of Samba and XFS getting along I do not know. And I am back level on Samba awaiting the new .deb's. Anyway, with that disclamer...

DFS, WAN links and file syncing
I'm working on solving an interesting problem. We've got some folks on
the other side of a WAN link who are complaining about the very long
load time they have for the really big files located on my server.
There *is* a linux system on their side of the WAN connection with Samba
already installed and it occurred to me that maybe a DFS setup would be
helpful.
Having never messed with DFS

[PATCH] thusnelda keyframe only speedup
Hi all,
Attached is a trivial patch that speeds up encoding for key frame only
streams. It skips the motion vector search which is not needed when
there are never going to be any delta frames. It was made against
thusnelda SVN revision 14589.
Tested on Fedora 8 x64_64.

Conflict with Ctrl key in MacOS?
After a switch from Windows to Macintosh (running Mac OSX 10.6), I wanted to be able to run a dear old text editor, NoteTab Pro, which is only available in a Windows version.
I did an installation using Wine, and after some initial issues in finding the supporting files to the editor (the path to them turned out to have 14(!) levels), everything was running smoothly.
But pretty soon the MacBook

2460x1440 video card recommendation
Can someone recommend a video card that's capable of driving a monitor at 2560x1600 or 2560x1440 and just works with Centos 7 without requiring any outside video drivers?
I would prefer to stay with the built-in video drivers that are included with Centos 7 if possible; I don't play games and such, so I'm not looking for high performance 3D -- I just want a high resolution desktop.
