connection attempt timeout - possible feature?
...allel tasks/threading, so I'm interested in reducing the amount of time OpenSSH will wait to connect to something before giving up. I've already set the ConnectionAttempts flag to 1, but am interested in reducing the amount of time it uses initially. From our boxes, the timeout seems to be abuot 60 seconds, but I haven't timed it yet, or groveled through the code enough to know for sure. Before I embark on a coding spree and hack at OpenSSH to do this, am I looking in the right place? Is this behaviour controlled by the application or the OS? My copy of Stevens is at home, and...

(Repost to list) Copying large files xp pro -> Samba very slow
.... Apologies if you've already seen it. Hi, I would really appreciate any hep with a big problm I'm having with XP (Pro / SP1 ) transferring to a samba share. The transfer starts off OK, using about 66% of my 100Mbs network. Then, after about 10-15 seconds, it drops off to 25%, then after abuot 30 seconds, drops off again to close to zero. After some amount of time ( perhaps 30 seconds to a minute ), sometimes the speed picks up again. (following the pattern above ) The two computers are linked via a netgear 100Mb hub. The XP box has a 3com etherlink PCI card ( set to auto sense media /...

Rails Sessions - Disabling and Garbage Collection
Is there a way to turn sessions off in Rails? Doesn''t appear to be. Also, is there any garbage collection for stale sessions? On those two topics, are there any problems with Rails handling those options? I ask because it seems like something that would have been included. If there is no technical reason why it wasn''t included, then I''ll create/submit a source

libiconv problems
Hello all, OK - Im kind of stumped on this one and google wasnt much help. Its probably something stupid and obvious, but I could use another pair of eyeballs. When compiling Samba 3.0.5 on Solaris 9 (using the Sun directory server 5.1 as the LDAP, but compiled against the OpenLDAP libraries in /usr/local/lib) I got the following error during the make: lib/iconv.c: In function `sys_iconv':
