Update on Ptalarbvorm
Hi there, I was wondering if someone closer to the work happening in the Ptalarbvorm branch could be so kind as to provide a little update on progress? I've heard tidbits from around the web that the improvement over 1.1 is at least as much as 1.1 was itself over 1.0. I know that myself and many others found Monty's occasional updates on Thusnedla development to be absolutely fascinating

Theora blurriness in Windows players
...latest versions of a wide variety of players all appear to display this bug. Notably absent is any mention of Xiph-based decoders, such as DirectShow filters. I did not take the same to test those yet, but perhaps I will take some more time and do that on my own PC. -- Basil Mohamed Gohar abu_hurayrah at hidayahonline.org http://www.basilgohar.com/blog basilgohar on irc.freenode.net GPG Key Fingerprint: 5AF4B362

Theora for webcam/conferencing use
Hey Theorans, Yesterday and today I decided to try out broadcasting a video stream using Theora from my computer's built-in webcam. I was pleasantly surprised to find that, while maintaining a rate of less than 150kbps, the stream was of quite a suitable quality sending 640x480 video at 15 frames per second. For now, this is video only, by the way, I did not include any audio in the stream

"Google will soon make its VP8 video codec open source, we?ve learned from multiple sources. The company is scheduled to officially announce the release at its Google I/O developers conference next month, a source with knowledge of the announcement said. And with that release, Mozilla ? maker of the Firefox browser ? and Google Chrome are expected to also announce support for HTML5 video

recommendations for web video bit rates
Hey, everyone. I'm sure this thread will generate some email! Some people are working on a super-easy to use converter for people to be able to convert videos to Theora for the upcoming Get Video on Wikipedia push: http://videoonwikipedia.org/ (Note that this isn't being pushed yet, and is pre-launch quality!) For the converter one thing we'd like to be able to provide is a set

Correct List?
Is this the correct list for asking detailed questions about implementing the Theora specification? For example, I have questions about creating the quantization matrices. Should I go to the theora-dev mailing list instead, or is that a private list for Xiph?

OpenHDCapture
I just saw this project referenced on the video4linux mailing list, and I thought others on this list might be interested (assuming they don't already know about it): http://www.opencircuits.com/OpenHDCapture To summarize, the goal is to develop an open hardware device that can capture video at 720p30 (1280x720, 30fps). At the moment I am not sure if Theora has a direct relationship with

Live webcam stream with Theora
Hey all, I've setup a simple page that just displays a live webcam stream of me at work, and it supposedly falls back onto Cortado if your browser doesn't support the <video> tag. The URL is here: http://media.basilgohar.com/stream/ There's been a lot of talk about live streaming and low bitrate streams. Here is my command line (I've posted this before): time ffmpeg -f
