fftw upgrade?

distribution from RedHat. AFAIK, there are changes to the API in fftw
version 3, which may give problems with 3rd party packages. Has anyone
got experience with this? And any advice to offer?

concatenate 2 data.frames
...ndent column. So what I want is to have a new data.frame where I have first the values from one data.frame and then the values from a second data.frame would came after in this new data.frame.

what happens when I store linear models in an array?
...something less than the actual linear model object is being
stored in the array, but I don't understand what's happening, or how to
easily batch-extract parameters of linear models. Any advice?

...would like to know how can I create a binned column in a data.frame. The output that I would like is something like this:

remove columns having a partial match name
...want to delete all columns that have the name starting with "Start". I´ve tried to do this but it doesn´t work:
> DATA_OK <- DATA[,-match(("Start*"),names(DATA))]
> dim(DATA_OK)
NULL

permutation test assumption?
Dear all,
Can I do a permutation test if the number of individuals in one group is much bigger than in the other group? I searched the literature but I didin´t find any assumption that refers to this subject for permutation tests.

Model comparison

I would like to know if I can compare by a significance test 2 models with different kind of parameters. Perhaps I am wrong but I think that we can only compare 2 models if one is a sub model of the other.

Subset function of lm(); "rolling regressions"

Problems with Windows RGUI R-2.7.0 when PATH includes 'æ'
..."methods" in options("defaultPackages") was not found
The problems disappear, when I change the the subdirectory name to its short
version, 'FLLES~1' in the PATH specification in the Windows setup.

bivariate normal
...takes as arguments a n*2 matrix of bivariate values given a common mean and covariance matrix, where n is the number of cases and which returns a n*1 vector of the probabilities of the bivariate normal distribution of the n*2 vector of values.
