Best way to filter "Nachi pings"?
We're being ping-flooded by the Nachi worm, which probes subnets for
systems to attack by sending 92-byte ping packets. Unfortunately,
IPFW doesn't seem to have the ability to filter packets by length.
Assuming that I stick with IPFW, what's the best way to stem the
tide?

Error: object is not a matrix
Hi,
I have encountered the following error, when using 'aov', which I think
has something to do with the length of my call to 'aov', and I cannot
understand why:
Error in model.frame.default(formula = Y2 ~ P2 + P2:AAAAAAAA +
P2:B2 + :
object is not a matrix
The error occurs when I run the first sequence below, but not the
second. The two sequences are based on the SAME data, but in one
case, the variable names are longer [Although I don't think the nature
of my analysis is relevant here, it is a 3-way repea...

Learning ruby question
I''m having trouble understanding Ruby''s concept of scope. Could
someone explain the difference between the following 2 programs.
They both return the same output "aaaaaaaa", but I''m just not sure
about self in #1. Is self.day and self.title referring to and setting
class variables or are they instance variables? Thanks in advance.
# 1.
class Session

Request for help - adding text files to a data frame
...I have a data frame which looks something like this:
V1 <-c(1,2,3)
V2 <-c(5,6,7)
V3 <-c(9,10,11)
df <- data.frame(V1,V2,V3)
I want to add couple of text files at the beginning of df and save
the df as a csv file.
The csv file should look something like this:
"AAAAAAAA"
"BBBBBBBBB"
"CCCCCCCCC"
V1 V2 V3
1 5 9
2 6 10
3 7 11
Any suggestions/advice in this regard.
Thanks for your help,
Bhaskar

Hacking attempt, Asterisk 1.4
...two, resulting
in our AGI script being overloaded.
What happens is that somebody seems to be trying to connect from our server
? in my cdrs log I can see that they use a four digit number for source,
destination and caller id, e.g.
clid: 7321
src: 7321
dst: 7321
channel: SIP/xx.xx.xx.xx-aaaaaaaa
xx.xx.xx.xx is our server IP. When one of our registered users makes a call
the channel is SIP/yyyyyyyy-aaaaaaaa where yyyyyyyy is the SIP user ID.
So it looks like a SIP phone trying to call itself, using our Asterisk
server IP as SIP user name.
Within a couple of minutes the attacker...

Using UUID in a Migration
Has anyone ever used UUID in a migration?
I thought I could set the default value of a field to be UUID but that
only sets the value the string instead of executing the function to
create a new unique identifier.

Strange problem with MS Office while saving
...tching my shares to replicate them off-site
- about 100 W7/W8 clients with MS Office 2010
Using inotifywait, I tracked how MS Office file save function works.
Basically, when clicking on the "diskette" icon, Office do the following
thing:
- create a temporary file with the new content (AAAAAAAA.tmp)
- rename the original file (text.xls) to a new temporary name
(BBBBBBBB.tmp)
- rename the first temporary file (AAAAAAAA.tmp) to the original
filename (test.xls)
- delete the second temporary file (BBBBBBBB.tmp)
The above renaming valzer works flawlessy 99.9% of times, but sometime

what could be causing it? It's a very good printer which has no other
