How should I create a repo on Centos 2.1?
...ot; doesn't see the need to
support RHAS2.1/Centos2.1/RHL7.x amd such.
While I can, if forced, solve the problem by a personal visit to the
site or by creating a repo on the other side of the Internet, there
should be a better general solution.
What is it?

Manage of firewall.
Hello,
I see manage of firewall in CentOS (called security), and seems
difficult to manage, not enough powerful.
I am searching a middle term between scripts of iptables to manage and
Security manager of CentOS. I know FireStarter, another similar?

wireless card for CentOS
Hi,
I'll need to buy a new wireless card. I need a recommendation for
PCMCIA wireless card that simply works with CentOS out of the box.
By "works out of the box", I mean that it doesn't need ndis wrapper
(or whatever it is called), kernel hacks, or whatever.
Thanks

...ing to yum in preference to up2date (yum is now used within Anaconda).
Other than general discussion, I'd also like to know what I'd muss by
using up2date on CentOS.
I'll start with this:
What has yum that provides this functionality:
up2date -d -u

Hi Guys,
I'm creating an ldap server for my network. I'm quite confuse about /etc/ldap.conf and /etc/openldap/ldap.conf files. What are the difference of those two config files? Thanks!

openssl package possibly different in CentOS and RHEL
I've just had a problem on one of my x86_64 boxes with openssl
package. I have an 32-bit only application that requires openssl
libraries. When I attempted to install openssl.i686 (in addition to
already present openssl.x86_64), it failed. The rpm complained about
conflicting files (they were all manpages), and I needed to use
--force option to install the thing.

any help installing 4.4 for s390 (or s390x) on Z9-BC?
I should start off by saying that I know a lot more about linux than I
do z/series hardware....
I've tried centos 3.3 and 4.4 for s390 and s390x, if it make any
difference....
Trying to install 4.4 on an lpar on a z9-BC and having trouble figuring
out how to get the OSA adapter working. I've been told that when I
ftp-boot from the iso image, I should choose "eth" for

CentOS 4 - prevent X from installing?
So, I've just gone through a enw CentOS 4.4 install. I selected the "Custom"
installation type, and then in the part for selecting which packages to
install, I specifically did NOT select X, Gnome or KDE, nor any of the
graphical tools.
However, when it finished installing and rebooted, I still ended up with
X installed, a graphical login screen and default run level of 5.

CentOS 5 gotchas
As some folks on irc have pointed out, and has been covered a bit in
the beta discussions:
There is no longer a 'Minimal' install option for centos5 in anaconda,
however if you choose 'Customize Now' and uncheck all the selections,
you will get a minimal install that only requires disk1, and weighs in
at around 594MB. With kickstart it is possible to further reduce the
package

If I have a board that supports hot swapping SATA drives, what do I
need to have in terms of installed utilities for it to work with CentOS

CentOS 5 & Beryl
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
For those interested, the beryl packages from Fedora-Extras (FC6) will
install cleanly and run perfectly on CentOS 5.
For it running here on a Duron 1600, 512MB RAM and GForce 4 MX440.
Snappy as it gets.
Best regards,
