...NFS (LDAP-SASL/Kerberos) Or maybe a Windows, e.g., NetBIOS/WINS, SAM, NTLM, SMB (CIFS) DNS, MS LDAP, MS Kerberos, SMB (ADS) Or maybe even a Novell, e.g., SAP, Bindery, hash/RSA, NCP (Bindery) NLSP, X.500/DAP, RSA, NCP (NDS aka eDirectory) You should interface with your clients with what _they_ expect, not what your "back-end" is by default. -- Bryan J. Zap channel(s), meetme and codecs/licences
Hi all, Some simple questions about codecs: What codec does the Zap channel use by default? Can this default be changed, and to what? (g729 too?) What codec does meetme use? (I think this is ulaw, but asking to be sure) Can you use another codec, or does everything have to be transcoded to ulaw? Finally ... if I have a 3way call going, between 1 g729 caller and two other callers, do I need one

[OT] Is data copyrightable?
Dear all, This is a little bit off-topic, but I was wondering if anyone has any informed opinion on whether data (ie. a dataset) is copyrightable? Hadley

Markdown development
Not only is [Markdown] dead, it's starting to smell really bad. (Apologies to Pike.) It's author appears to have little interest in developing the tool and participating in the community which uses it. I'd like to see the community cooperate toward a specification which addresses the shortcomings and ambiguities of Markdown (even if it need be released under a new name).

[PATCH 0/5] asynchronous commit, snapshot ponies
Hi everyone, This patchset is the latest approach I''m using for the Ceph storage daemon to keep track of which data has safely committed to disk. The basic idea is to not use the (problematic) user transaction ioctls at all. Instead, the daemon quiesces its own write requests, initiates an async snapshot, and then continues. The snapshot approach is nice because it provides rollback.

four wildcards in a single pc
Hi. Please excuse me asking this again. But it really puzzles me. We're installing asterisk at a branch office at NJ (HQ is at Petach-Tikva) It'll need to support 5 POTS lines, 11 analog extensions and four VOIP phones. I wanted to go with a T1 card from digium and a channel bank, but we have a dead line. It has to be up and running by January 1st. I don't have the time to start

[PATCH 0/6] Btrfs commit fixes, async subvol operations
Hi Chris, This is the extent of my current queue of Btrfs snapshot/subvol/commit stuff. Most of these were posted several months ago. Can be sent upstream during this merge window? Not having this functionality is becoming a bit of a roadblock for our efforts to keep the Ceph data in a consistent state. These patches are also available from
