Stubbing out required associated models
Hello, As I''m becoming more and more familiar with mocking/stubbing, I''m going back to some of my model specs and revaluating how I wrote them. I have certain models in which validation requires the presence of an associated model, which itself needs to be valid(validates_presence_of and validates_associated). When I wrote the specs, I wrote helpers for the attributes instead

AJAX on page load
Ok, I''m missing something obvious but after some reasonable looking in _The_ Rails book (sorry haven''t gotten the cookbook yet) and these archives I don''t see a solution to my question. Question: What is the cleanest way to load a div via AJAX when the page loads - no user action necessary. I don''t really want to hack in a hidden remote form or l...

linear functional relationships with heteroscedastic & non-Gaussian errors - any packages around?
...ationships depending on whether I do the orhtogonal fit on x or y (as the errors on X & Y are quite different using the covariance matrix isn't all that useful either) Does anybody know of code in R to do this kind of fitting in a Bayesian framework? My concern isn't so much on getting _the_ best slope estimate but rather to have a good estimate of the uncertainty on the slope. Cheers, Jarle.

[LLVMdev] LLD improvement plan
...of MachO sections into "Chunk"s. Perhaps once everything is said and done, lld can once again have a single core model. I think that may be what Sean was trying to get at -- not that it's wrong to create a new model as a base, but that the expectation should be that new model will be _the_ model used in LLD, not a second model to be kept permanently alongside the current "single-symbol-per-atom" model, which has been shown insufficient.

R CMD check and missing imports from base packages
...the density function from stats and not from somewhere else? Isn't > that what ImportFrom is for? I want to "require" format imports from base packages (except from _the_ base package, maybe). Yes, people can do this already. But why not help them with a NOTE if they don't know that this is good practice, or they just simply forget? move firmware-specific code into a directory
...focus / investments from the very few contributors that Syslinux currently has... As I have said in past emails (among other places), current regressions and essential features are still the main issue for Syslinux these days (or rather, years). In fact, let me emphasize that statement: it is _the_ issue. @Patrick (and whoever might be interested): I have posted the link several times (even recently): "[PATCH 0/1] EFI access from Com32 modules" http://www.syslinux.org/archives/2015-March/023320.html (and please, remember the "8.3 file name format"; TIA) Regards, Ady....

Use of C++ in Packages
...rst doing expensive copies into an intermediate heap. The advice to avoid C++ is also antithetical to John Chambers vision of first S and R as a interface language (from Extending R [2]) > The *interface* principle has always been central to R and to S before. An interface to subroutines was _the_ way to extend the first version of S. Subroutine interfaces have continued to be central to R. The book also has extensive sections on both C++ (via Rcpp) and Julia, so clearly John thinks these are legitimate ways to extend R. So if 'don't use C++' is not realistic and the current R...
