gen-mpegurl.m3u source/making a clean weblink to broadcast
Thanks guys, this is exactly what I was looking for. Now, all
I have to do is figure out how to start icecast and liveice
cleanly when the machine cycles power.
I tried just naively sticking
/usr/local/icecast/bin/icecast &
/usr/local/icecast/bin/liveice &
into rc.local, but something weird happens. It just loops
on a message 'you can run but you can't hide' over and
over

i know this could be done using a telnet connection and eventually i'm
going to do so, but i thought that if somebody else is interested we
could implement something like xml-rpc communication with icecast.
what do you think?

icecast "multicasting" ?
...from a backend server which receives the source.
having a sparse topology of servers covering the main continents you
want to reach is a good point in optimizing bandwidth usage, i used
icecast in this way a couple of times and it works pretty well.

icecast is a daemon, liveice not
this might sound a bit shamanic, but you should also try to RTFM

i think icecast could take advantage of xmlrpc-c to have a complete and
practical admin interface, also relying on pretty well mantained code.

Congratulations to 1.0, cheers! :)
Not much more to say, thanks a lot to all developers for your hard work!
I have no chance to reach vorbis.com (CVS works, slowly ;) ), I take
that as a very good and promising sign.

Mark, thanks for the info. Do you mean that icecast can accept a stream
from another icecast server and then distribute that stream to its
"listeners"?

gen-mpegurl.m3u source/making a clean weblink to broadcast
Hi guys. I've been running icecast for awhile, and just
upgraded to the latest version. Everything works fine,
nice work.
Here's the deal, I'm still not sure how to make a clean
link to my broadcast. On the icecast.org site, it calls
a cgi-bin file called 'gen-mpegurl.m3u.' This always
stars up my broadcast nicely.
Is there anyway to get the source code to

Looking for a non-graphical mp3 streaming tool
Hi;
I want to use a headless, debian linux box (no console) as my audio
streamer. I've installed shoutcast and icecast multiple times without
problems, but I have yet to find a streaming tools as effective as WinAMP
on a windows box.
I don't need the graphics and don't want to listen to the source on the
server (a sparcstation 10), I just want something that I can use to
develop a
