I am continuing to struggle with a strange SAMBA Printing problem. Here are the details: 1) NT based clients can log on as guests or as users and can print in either case with no problems. 2) Windows 9x clients can log in as either guest or as users and can access shares with no problems. 3) Windows 9x clients attempting to print directly to the SAMBA printer hang the print process and require a reboot 4) After capturing a printer port, the 9x clients can print by copying either a text or .pr...

...in whatever folder I tell it with the "logon home" directive. But even if "logon home" points to the profile, it doesn't open the profile. It does a Check Directory Request gets a Respons and will then do a Tree Disconnect. Does this behaviour mean Windows 10 acts like a Win 9x client? According to the man page the logon home directive should only influence the behaviour of a Win 9x client. Is there a way to force Windows 10 via a samba directive to behave differently? Or does this look like an entire Windows problem? Your help is very much appreciated. Thanks a lot!

I've been playing around, even blowing away the win98 slice and installing it from scratch, but when running wineboot, I still get 10-15 crashes to the debugger. ...dows 95/98 clients cannot login to the server anymore. In the log I see 'NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED' messages for these clients. The samba server is setup to use an NT4 PDC as the password server. The security = domain. The Windows 2000 and up clients don't have any problems. But, the Win 9x cannot login. We also have other older samba servers. Various version up till 3.0.20. This old server uses the master.passwd to authenticate users, I tried to do the same with the new one, but I couldn't get a passwd backend (plain text) to do this, so I moved to smbpasswd backend and now everything works fine, except for Windows 9X and NT - users cannot login to any share. Theres is no firewall in the new server (yet). I am attaching my smb.conf file to your apreciattion.
