OCFS2 on Linux-x86-64 9iR2
Hello,
we have two bugs filed for Linux-x86 and Linux-x86-64 both using OCFS2
for their 9.2.0.7 DB installation. Strange thing happening in these two
ports is, after DB got created, we are seeing 'Corrupt data block'
messages in alert logs and when the same blocks verified connecting to
database appears to be clean. This inconsistency is stopping customer
to go further use DB. This

DBWR write performance
I''m an Oracle DBA, a dtrace noob, and I''m attempting to resolve an Oracle write performance problem on Solaris 10, Oracle 9iR2.
The Oracle DBWR processes have poor write throughput writing to VxFS files. I suspect that the problem may be with POSIX readers/writer file locking.
Ideally I''d like to identify, for a given DBWR process, readers/writer file lock contention on a datafile by datafile basis.
Any guid...

My node is restarted when running OCFS
...provide by the orarun package.
My problem is: when I start Oracle cluster manager on one node (or both nodes), the node is restarted after a few minutes.
When I don't start Oracm, I don't have this problem.
And verifying the content of the cluster manager log file
(/opt/oracle/product/9ir2/oracm/cm.log) does not show me any problem.
Where can I find the system's log file?
Any idea???
That is my last step before installing Oracle RAC
Thanks.

ocfs performance
Hi,
I'm new to the list, so forgive me if I'm asking several naive questions
that have been answered a dozen times before.
I have RHAS with kernel version 2.4.9-e.10smp, running
ocfs-support-1.0-2, ocfs-tools-1.0-2, ocfs-2.4.9-e.10-smp-1.0-2. I have
Oracle 9iR2 RAC up and running on an IBM fiber channel architecture. I
find it to be extremely slow compared to other stand alone Oracle
databases and believe it to be related to IO off the fiber. Truthfully,
I really don't know whether it's the fiber itself or the ocfs, but I
don't believe i...

Disappointing Performance Using 9i RAC with OCFS on Linux

Swap is used for ext2/ext3 (about 240Mb). No swapping for raw and ocfs.
All above runs with following parameters:
DB: Oracle 9iR2 (9.2.0.3)
TPCC Kit: 1000 Warehouse
Users: 100
Kernel : e.25 (RHAS2.1)
as you can see, ext3 and ext2 are 1/4th to 1/5th of raw/ocfs
this is on a big box, 1000 warehouses, thats like what, 500-600gb of
data.
the really really short answer is this :
Every benchmark we ever do has been on raw, beca...

Oracle and kernel 2.6 vs 2.4 performance question
All,
We're currently running Oracle 9i on a RHEL AS 2.1 installation. We
need to upgrade to Oracle 10g, and I've half-way convinced my boss to
upgrade to RHEL 4 (we're still discussing AS vs ES, since we're running
2 HT processors...).
Anyway, I want to upgrade because of EOL issues whenever RHEL 5 comes
out, but before he okays me wiping the server and installing 4, he

same Old question: 32 bits VS 64 bits on database performance
We have several large projects will use ORACLE 10Gr2
database with CENTOS 4.X. Does anyone have
performance report on 32 Bits O.S. (with 32 bit
ORACLE) VS 64 bits?
Thanks.

cp --o_direct
Another question.
When my database is running, I do
[oracle@LNCSTRTLDB03 LPTE3]$ cp --o_direct xdb01.dbf /tmp
cp: cannot open `xdb01.dbf' for reading: Permission denied
[oracle@LNCSTRTLDB03 LPTE3]$
When the database is shudown it works.
Is this normal for ocfs because with any other filesystem I can just
copy a file at any time (Its only a testing, I know I cant copy
datafiles and have

Agile Web Development with Rails 1.1
Dave, on another topic, might I recommend that you and DHH publish an
updated version of the Agile guide right away when 1.1 comes out? You could
reuse much of your material and it would do a lot of good to help make sure
there is still a good centralized source of reference for Rails. Without
that book, there really is not a good one-stop source of information for
people to learn how to use
