maps library for R?
Hi there, Does it already exist a library in R to draw maps (something like a Generic Mapping Toolbox, http://gmt.soest.hawaii.edu/ port). I've seen in an old R-help that Ross Ihaka once tried to port the S-plus map library (http://maths.newcastle.edu.au/~rking/R/help/99b/0832.html ). Anybody know if this package is available somewhere or if there is somebody developing a Mapping package for R. I'll might then try to help. Cheers, Angel

non-negative least squares?
In July of 1999 Douglas Bates invited R users to implement an algorithm for non-negative least squares based on Bates and Wolf, 1984: Communications in Statistics, Part B 13:841-850. <http://www.ens.gu.edu.au/robertk/R/help/99b/0058.html> I'm wondering if anybody has implemented this or something similar so I won't have to reinvent the wheel. SAS to R translator for particular procedures
Dear /Bill Paterson, while trying to find a way to convert SAS code into R, I came across your one time e-mail message (http://www.ens.gu.edu.au/robertk/R/help/99b/0908.html). I'd appreciate to learn if anything came out of this, or any suggestions. ...on a Mitsubishi im-2000 mobo. I don't see an actual chip on the mobo w/ this ID so I suspect it embedded in the mobo BIOS or in one of the 3 Intel chips. I am attempting to use LTSP to boot a workstation w/ above NIC chipset. It has imbedded boot to net software (Intel Landesk service agt v.99b) using PXE. I can't get it working on a diskless ws trying to boot to a Linux server. I have had success with other NIC's using the rom-o-matic software using floppy and linksys bootrom media. I have tried the rom-o-matic eepro100.lzpxe module but the ws displays "no PXE server fo...

According to R-exts (section 5.2, Interface functions .C and .Fortran), there are severe limitations on this: "Only the first element of the character vector is passed in, as a fixed-length (255) character array". I think there may be a work-around, although I'm no FORTRA...

Question about match.fun()
Dear all, I was recently contacted by a user about an alledged problem/bug in the latest version of lasso2. After some investigation, we found out that it was a user error which boils down to the following: > x <- matrix(rnorm(200), ncol=2) > var <- "fred" > apply(x, 2, var) Error in get(x, envir, mode, inherits) : variable "fred" of mode "function"

Is there anyway to transfer across the header information or edit the ncdf package to do this? Thanks in advance, Ross (PhD...

[PATCH 0/5] ia64/pv_ops, xen: binary patch optimization TAKE 2
This patch set is intended for the next merge window. They are just enhancements of the already merged patches or ia64 porting from x86 paravirt techniques and that their quality is enough for merge. This patch set is for binary patch optimization for paravirt_ops. The binary patch optimization is important on native case because the paravirt_ops overhead can be reduced by converting indirect
