virtual serveres
I am in the process of building a new machine to replace several older servers. I am considering running several virtual servers on one box, all linux for host and virtual machines using VirtualBox. Is it possible/advisable to configure shorewall on the host to act as a firewall for the virtual machines, each having one or more static public IP address? Any pointers, suggestions and/or

na.strings in readLines or is.na?
When reading a data set into R using readLines, na.strings="-99.99" is ignored. Is there an equivalent command for readLines? Alternatively, either immediately after reading into R or once the data set has been converted to a data frame, what is the appropriate command (or appropriate use of is.na) to convert my -99.99s to NAs? Thanks, Ben Osborne -- Botany Department University of

Shorewall and sshdfilter
Hi All! Been quite a few years and lots of water under the bridge but here I am back! I have a customer that has now decided they need a bit more bandwidth over and above their fixed line! They are not in a good area for ADSL because of copper theft and being a bit to far from the closest DSLAM! They have installed a wireless link and I have made certain that put it behind my simple iptables

Numbers with correct significant digits
This, for example: v <- c(9.6996, 99.99) formatC(v, digits=3, format="g") shows: " 9.7" " 100" This is scientifically incorrect for the first number in the sense that I like to show all 3 significant digits, including trailing zero's. Is there a way that the first number would show as " 9.70"? By the way, can't use format() since it applies

Upgrade from Shorewall 4.4.27.3 to 4.5.0.1
I''d like to ask for clarification on the upgrade procedure using tarballs. In the past, with version 4.4, I have downloaded shorewall-4.4.x.y.tar.bz2 and shorewall6-4.4.x.y.tar.bz2, extracted each, and executed ''install.sh -s'' in each directory. Now there is a new package shorewall-core-4.5.x.y.tar.bz2. As I understand it, with version 4.5, this core package needs to be

dahdi_test drops after restarting Sangoma driver

Cisco SIP phones which are expecting a reply at port 5060 while sending from an arbitrary high port. Hello Guys I have problem with internet bank. I have 2 Internet links balancing mode, thus the bank is charging connection down. I tried to force Internet traffic (port 80 and 443) for only a link, however it did not work. How do I make a setting to force the connection to these ports for a specific link. [LLVMdev] arm compiler benchmarks
Hi, I didn't do any serious benchmarking but so far I never found a case where LLVM does better than IAR on CortexM0, but I saw a lot of cases where IAR output is better than LLVM... That said I did not use -Os or -Oz, I just used -O3. A recurrent situation is that LLVM push/pop one or two extra registers compared to IAR, I guess it does so in order to comply with a standard ABI or

Hello, Running FC5 x86_64 with dovecot-1.0-0_8.beta3.rhfc5.at Using system user/passwds for 99.99% of users...have sql user/pass enabled to test virtual users from mysql. How do I strip off the domain when users provide user at domain.com so that my userdb and passdb use just 'user'? (disregarding sql auth...I'm not concerned with that right now). My dovecot.conf auth config:

FXS Solutions for modems and other non jitter tolerant devices
In the past we have used Adtran Atlas 550's to break out FXS ports for devices like modems. The great thing about the 550 is that internally it is all TDM so there is absolutely zero latency. We are able to use ATA's for faxes and analog phones but devices that use modems, they fail 99.99% of the time when using an ATA. We tried to migrate to TA908 devices; they have FXS ports built
