I don't understand the 'order' function
I thought I've understood the 'order' function, using simple examples like:
order(c(5,4,-2))
[1] 3 2 1
However, I arrived to the following example:
order(c(2465, 2255, 2085, 1545, 1335, 1210, 920, 210, 210, 505, 1045))
[1] 8 9 10 7 11 6 5 4 3 2 1
and I was completely perplexed!
Shouldn't the output vector be 11 10 9 8 7 6 4 1 2 3 5 ?
Do I have a damaged version of R?
I became still more astonished when I used the sort function and got the
right answer:
sort(c(2465,...

image 256 x 920 data points too slow
Dear R gurus,
I'm trying to visualize a matrix 256 x 920 using image(), but i find
the display too slow (~ 1 minute ?? admittedly, my iBook G4 isn't
very fast). The aim is not to get a good resolution image, but rather
have a quick look at the matrix. I couldn't find a way to plot a
smaller set of points from my data in a sensible manner...

Newb to puppet - Solaris svcadm question
...ng happens on the client - clearly something is amiss.
Am I doing something obviously wrong? I can certainly manually run ''svcadm disable cde-login'' as root and watch X rather dramatically stop working on my test machine (grin).

Hey,
In case someone filters commit mails or doesn't read 1MB blobs, I've
just merged the result of me getting annoyed at various stuff.
Unfortunately, this grew a bit out of hand and ended up being very
huge. I expect this merge to have broken lots of things, so if you
find stuff that used to work and now doesn't work (or even crashes),
please poke me about it.
What does this patch
