SSD ZIL/L2ARC partitioning
...s mirrored intent log devices, but as the intent log needs quite a small amount of the disks (10GB?), I was wondering if I can use the rest of the disks as L2ARC? I have a few questions about this: -Is 10GB enough for a log device? -Can I partition the disks (10GB + 90 GB) and use the unused (90GB) space as L2ARC? -If I use the rest of the disks as L2ARC, do I have to mirror the L2ARC or can I just add 2 partitions (eg: 2 x 90GB = 180GB) -If I used non mirrored L2ARC, Could something go wrong if one L2ARC device failed (pool unavailable, lock in the kernel, panic,...)? -- Michel Jans...

rsync getting stuck while "building file list"
Hello Samba Team, We are using rysnc utility for transferring ~90GB data across the machines. We noticed that for small folders, rsync is working fine but the moment we switch to 90GB folder, it gets stuck at "building file list". We even left it running overnight e.g. 16 hours but it never came out. We are using simple rsync syntax #rsync -av --delete /...

LLVM building problem
...d the project with ninja: "ninja" (i do not use any flag). It seems to build well until i reach the final part, where the build try to link CXX executables. At this point, the VM freeze and I cannot do anything. I also have tried to expand the SWAP memory creating a second swap file with 90GB and the VM also freeze. I have tried this like 20 times and I don't know why this happens, it seems impossible to build this project. If you have any suggestions, please reply this post. Thanks in advance. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL: <htt...

new "large" fileserver config questions
Hi all, I was recently charged with configuring a new fairly large (24x3TB disks) fileserver for my group. I think I know mostly what I want to do with it, but I did have two questions, at least one of which is directly related to CentOS. 1) The controller node has two 90GB SSDs that I plan to use as a bootable RAID1 system disk. What is the preferred method for laying out the RAID array? I found this document on the wiki: http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Install_On_Partitionable_RAID1 But that seems like it's somewhat nonstandard. From what I've read in the...

When i look on both bricks the size of them are euqal but if i take a look into the gluster quota informations 'gluster volume quota xxx list' i get a wrong usage size. I can't see any errors on my glusterfs or brick logs. Do anyone have a hint ? Cheers Heiko -- System Wizard anynines.com

ARGH... once again samba causes "permission" errors.
...y am I getting ANY permission problems??? Frankly. I don't think it is a permission problem. (I set log level to 10; the output is long so I won't include it because I looked through it and didn't see any errors reported or any mention of permission denied.) GRRRRRRR! It gets worse. a 90GB NAS storage is pretty useless. The NAS is actually a 6TB Raid5 array with an XFS filesystem. But if I actually mount it.... # /etc/init.d/smb stop # mount /mnt/nas # ls -al /mnt/nas total 8 drwxrwxrwx 2 nas nas 6 May 28 18:11 . drwxrwxrwx 3 root root 4096 May 28 15:04 .. see... no difference...

Rsync stops randomly (using vanished files bash script)
Hey, I've been trying to transfer about 90GB from one Server to another using rsync. But rsync stops randomly. I use the bash script provided in a bug report, to block errors about vanished files! Here is how I start rsync: ./rsync-no-vanished -vvvvv -a -e ssh --delete --progress -z root@kilu3.de:/var/www/users /data/oldkilu3/ > /data/...

robocopy + rsync problems
Hi, my task was to clone a ntfs partition with around 160k files and size 90GB from one external USB disk to another - max path depth up to 256 chars. Sys 1) Win Vista SP2 Ger robocopy 0027 (probably MS bug/oversight, since Vista SP1 ENG they ship 0028) Sys 2) Centos 5.3 - rsync 3.0.6 - ntfs-3g 2009.4.4 Here are my findings, what makes me nervous though is that rsync seem...

rsync mechanics question
Hey All, I've been using rsync (2.6.9) to migrate a 90g message store volume and I'm running into some interesting results. I have two FC storage arrays attached to a Sunfire V280R, running Solaris 8. My 100gig volume is on a Sun StoreEdge 3510, and my new 500gig partition is on an HP EVA. I used the syntax: rsync -a --stats --delete $SRC/$dir/ $DST/$dir At present time, the

[Bug 10678] New: performance problem with lots of hard links?
...backed up file is hard linked to the corresponding file from the day before unless the file differs. On the backup disk there are 3 directory trees, one per backed-up machine, each with 45 directory trees. The backup disk has about 1TB of backup content. df says each disk being backed up is about 90GB. At the moment, we're copying an old backup disk to a new larger backup disk. It's taking forever and seems to be slowing down. After 8 hours it's copied only 37%. Maybe this is normal. Don't know. Thinking that perhaps a later version of rsync would do better, we started again, o...

rsync: dumping core, breaking pipes, not understanding modules - why?
I'm running rsync 2.5.2_1 on two machines - a production server (athlon 1500+, 512mb, 160gb raid array, running FreeBSD 4.4-release) and a machine I'd like to use as a backup system (a p2/350, 192mb, 90gb, running FreeBSD 4.5-release.) I've got rsync running as a daemon on the production server, and I'd like to use rsync to back up the key directories on that machine to the backup system. However, it seems clear that I'm an idiot, and I'd massively appreciate any illumination as...

Build error
Hello, I am building LLVM with ninja on Linux environment and I continue to have the error below. I am thinking that the cause might be my PC not having sufficient RAM memory. In this sense, I extended my swap memory with a swap file (90GB), but it didn't solved the problem. Should I add more physical RAM memory to my PC, or is there any software based solution I can try first? Thank you and looking forward for your answer.Kind regards,Iulia iulia at iulia-Aspire-ZC-606:~/build$ sudo ninja [sudo] password for iulia: [2/3] Linkin...

BalloonWorkerThread issue
Hello List, Merry Christmas to all !! Basically I''m trying to boot a Windows 2008R2 DC HVM with 90GB static max memory and 32GB static min. The node config is Dell M610 with X5660 and 96GB RAM and its running XCP 1.1 Many times the node crashes while booting HVM. Sometimes I get success. I have attached the HVM boot log of successful start. Many times the node hangs as soon as the BalloonWorkerT...

6Tb Database with ZFS
...hould set, do you think 24Gb will be enough for a 6Tb database? obviously the more the better but i cant set too much memory. Have someone implemented succesfully something similar? We ran some test and the usage of memory was as follow: (With Arc_max at 30Gb) Kernel = 18Gb ZFS DATA = 55Gb Anon = 90Gb Page Cache = 10Gb Free = 25Gb My system have 192Gb RAM and the database SGA = 85Gb. I would appreciate if someone could tell me about their experience. Best Regards -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Lustre Client - Memory Issue
Hi Guys, My users are reporting some issues with memory on our lustre 1.8.1 clients. It looks like when they submit a single job at a time the run time was about 4.5 minutes. However, when they ran multiple jobs (10 or less) on a client with 192GB of memory on a single node the run time for each job was exceeding 3-4X the run time for the single process. They also noticed that the swap space
