- 2x100GB OCZ DENEVA 2R SYNC eMLC SATA (no expander so I hope no SAS/
SATA problems). Specs: http://www.oczenterprise.com/ssd-products/deneva-2-r-sata-6g-2.5-emlc.html
I want to use the 2 OCZ SSDs as mirrored intent log devices, but as
the intent log needs quite a small amount of the disks (10GB?), I was
wondering if I can use the rest of the disks as L2ARC?
I have a few questions about this:
-Is 10GB enough for a log device?
-Can I partition the disks (10GB + 90 GB) and use the unused (90GB)
space as L2ARC?
-If I use the rest of the disks as L2ARC, do I have to mirror the
L2ARC or...

[Question] Multichannel load-balancing algorithm
Hello,
I have a question about multichannel and the load-balancing algorithm.
What kind of algorithm is it? (Roud-robin, dynamic round-robin, ...)
What are the arguments the algorithm compute to load-balance the
network traffic on the interfaces?
I already know that if a 10Gb/s interface and a 1Gb/s interfaces are
in the multichannel connection the 1Gb/s one will be ignored until the
10Gb/s goes down. But the available bandwith (and not the theorical
bandwith) could vary. This is why I want to know if the load-balancing
algorithm doesn't limit to just load-balance e...

10GB Ethernet for Xen - Intel, Solarflare, Mellanox, Which is best?
Hi All,
I''m trying to choose between 10Gb Ethernet cards for Xen. The trouble is
I''m getting quite confused with all the different terms different
companies use to describe NIC''s virtualization support. Any ideas what
the differences are between these brands?
I am trying to sort a comparison table but will need some h...

10gb :: ixgbe :: ssl problems?
Hi! Did anyone encountered some ssl transaction problems with latest
version of ixgbe? i had some very strange problem with nodes with
private ip (the server with 10 gb interface was masquerading the nodes
behind a switch with 10gb and 1 gb interfaces)
i used the latest drivers and the ssl conection could be made .. as soon
as i used the 2.6.18-308.8.1.el5 driver (3.4.8-k) the problem vanished...
What am i missing? how can a network driver have effect on ssl transactions?
Thank you for any info ..i feel like in twilight zon...

extend hdd in domU
Hi Alli need some information about how i can extend the HDD in domU.
I am a domU having 10GB of disk assigned to it now which is running out of
space.
is there a way i can assign a other 10GB space to the system in such a way
that it appears as a single HDD of 20GB without loss of data.
Thanks

fitting lots of music into 10GB with Vorbis
Hi- just wondering, what would be the best quality rating to use to fit lots of music into 10GB of HD space.
The audio quality has to be high enough for it to sound good when played through PA systems (for when my college is stupid enough to forget to hire a DJ, or when the realise the DJ they always hire can't use a mixing desk properly) ranging from a functional PA system thats stuck in...

rsync stuck at +- 50 MB/s, cp and scp are +- 200 MB/s
Hi,
i have two servers, connected to to the lan by 10Gb with 10Gb and DAS
hardware raid.
Each system con read and write locally or to the 10G iscsi by more than
200 MB/s.
Now I have to transfer backups form A to B and doing this with rsync
always stuck at +- 48-50MB/s no matter which options, compressions,
encryption etc I use. Even the plain default...

Expected performance for WORM scenario
...h of small files in a doubly-tiered sha1 hash fanout
directory structure. The directories themselves aren't overly full. Most of
the data we write to gluster is "write once, read probably never", so 99%
of all operations are of the write variety.
The network between servers is sound. 10gb network cards run over a 10gb
(doh) switch. iperf reports 9.86Gbit/sec. ping reports a latency of 0.1 -
0.2 ms. There is no firewall, no packet inspection and no nothing between
the servers, and the 10gb switch is the only path between the two machines,
so traffic isn't going over some 2mbit wi...

SMB2 write performace slower than SMB1 in 10Gb network

I've been testing SMB2 with samba 3.6.4 performance these days,
and I find a weird benchmark that SMB2 write performance is
slower than SMB1 in 10Gb ethernet network.

CentOS 6 Partitioning Map/Schema
...he use of the server. I currently have a quad
core intel system running 8GB of RAM with 1 TB hard drive (single). In
the past as a FreeBSD user, I have always made a physical volume of the
root filesystem (/), SWAP, /tmp, /usr, /var, and /home. In the
partitioning manager I would always specify 10GB for root, 2GB or so for
SWAP, 20GB var, 50GB usr, 10GB /tmp, and allocate all remaining space to
my home directory as my primary data volume (assuming all my
applications are installed and ran from my home directories). I was
recently told that this is an old style of partitioning and is not us...

samba 4.x slow ...
just to verify basic facts:
Did you cross check vie network sniff, on which SMB protocol versions Server + Win 7 clients agree ?
Or did you pin down via registry ?
AFAIK only starting with win 8 or win 10 clients you could ask with powershell, which protocol version is in use.
Did you also cross check samba logs for a name resolution issue ( windows names, not DNS)
if one of your boxes is an

Hi,
I am trying to configure two identical systems with the following setup.
dom0: Centos 6 OS on Apple Xserve i7 server with PCI cards for 4GB FC
(LSI FC949ES) and 10GB Ethernet (Intel 82598EB)
dom1: Centos 5 OS with passthru mode of PCI 4GB FC and 10GB Ethernet
(ixgbe and mptfc blacklisted in dom0)
Everything starts ok, but networking in dom1 using the 10GB interface
has extremely high rtt w/ping tests (20-30ms avg).
I've tried a few tweaks I've disco...

disk partitioning: 6.0 install to harddrive using liveCD
Greetings:
I'm planning to set up a test Centos 6.0 box (has CDROM, but no
DVD) with these partions:
/ 10GB ( no separate mount for /usr )
/tmp 1GB
/var 10GB
/boot 500MB
The centos mirrors I have seen do not provide the full distro on
CD (this box has no DVD). I'm used to having about 6 CD isos to work with.
The livecd install to hard drive works, but apparently...
